Muscle or not, I'm sure it was still hard work putting those pounds on...I’ve easily been able to add 20-25 in a year. Albeit not muscle though…
Lot of lifting.Muscle or not, I'm sure it was still hard work putting those pounds on...![]()
I actually think you can afford to miss way more today than before. If you gambled on a local kid pre-portal and he didn’t work out, he was not only eating a scholarship for 4/5 years but you also had a gaping hole at the missed position. We used to talk about whether it was okay yo push players up to “free up scholarships”. Now, you can.I'd disagree. That approach is how we end up with guys like Kristen Hoskins or whatever who sat around on scholly for 2 years before leaving. Sam Siedel should be another one.
With this new landscape, we can afford to miss and bring in portal players, and if the people we missed on turned out to prove themselves elsewhere, they can portal back here.
(That being said, this doesn't apply to Voss since he's obviously been identified big time.)
Fleck and the whole O staff were in Jackson for a home visit a few weeks ago.The coaching staff has been recruiting other 2026 tight ends more lately. Voss was also at the Iowa junior day last weekend, idk if he’s attending gophers one coming up soon
Yep first trip they madeFleck and the whole O staff were in Jackson for a home visit a few weeks ago.
Fair enough!Interesting you don’t mention Noah Fant.

Let's go!
Go Gophers!!
When he makes an amazing TD catch that totally embarrasses a Gopher opponent, the announcers will say “he got Voss’d!”Great name too.
Alabama coach will be fired before PJPicked up an offer from Alabama yesterday.
Good luck PJ.
Agree but Miami and Auburn are shitshowsWithin the last 10 days the junior from Jackson has picked up offers from Miami and Auburn. I got a feeling it's gonna be tough for PJ to keep this kid home.
I don’t know his situation but back in the day my family had seven kids. Dad worked two jobs. Mom worked a job with long hours. They worked hard and we were still poor. Coming from that situation in life I would’ve chased the NIL money vs local loyalty. Then used it to help the family out. Will he be swayed by NIL?![]()
Not a bad list for a small town Minnesota boy!His updated offer list:
Alabama
Auburn
Cal
Illinois
Iowa
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Miami
Minnesota
Oklahoma
UCLA
USC
Wisconsin
Athlete with position flexibility is huge in recruiting. Played QB and will likely be TE or DE at the next level. Not a bad list for a small town Minnesota boy!
Sure, but if you could get good money from the local team and stay in the area there would be some definite appeal to that as well....we are seeing that with Perich right now. He could have gotten more money somewhere else but has elected to stick with the home town school for almost certainly less than he could have gotten elsewhere.I don’t know his situation but back in the day my family had seven kids. Won't real NIL opportunities usually be better near home? Like getting advertising gigs, etc., and building his brand? That would be especially true if he's actually good. He can be a hometown hero like Perich. Becoming a celebrity in a different state where you're starting from zero and the local advertisers would rather promote their own local kids would be harder, right? All else being equal.
