At least one highly placed source cited these as examples of how veteran coaches with great records don't always work out (Michigan is 11th in the Big Ten in defense, which doesn't sit well in Ann Arbor). The hint is that we may not get a veteran, after all, dspite the big numbers and the "Tubby" talk.

I know this is not your point, but I think Michigan will win the Big Ten in the next 3 years. Rodriguez has the same type of year-to-year progress everywhere he goes. He just needs to get his guys in and get them working in the system.

I'm thinking the same thing - Rodriguez will survive, which means somebody else will get Harbaugh. Friend said he had the hint from Maturi himself.

Richrod will be able to win the Big Ten if he can recruit faster defensive players and a QB who can stay healthy. People wanted to make the argument that his offense couldn't work in the Big Ten....clearly people who said this were wrong. And he is doing this with a very young team.

If he can survive this year, he may be there for a while. I do think 6-6 gets him fired...I also think there is a chance he is fired at 7-5 (3-5) if they get blown out by Ohio State.

I don't think he gets fired at 6-6 unless the last three losses are horrible AND they have a great candidate in the wings. Harbaugh may not be a sure thing given his probable desire to coach in the NFL and the last time they ran a search for a coach it was a complete debacle. Not sure if people remember, but they lost out on Les Miles and were turned down by Ferentz and Schiano!!. Getting Rodriguez was actually a lucky break as they literally had no other top notch candidates at the time.
