per the Post Bulletin:
FELDY: The difference between a 5-1 record and a 5-2 record is minimal. One loss. That's all we're talking about. But the perception of the 5-1 Vikings and the 5-2 Gophers is at opposite ends of the spectrum. Is it as simple as the fans' level of trust in Mike Zimmer vs. their level of trust in Tracy Claeys? Does it come down to the fans' faith in the Vikings players vs. their faith in the Gophers' players? Right now, if you listen closely enough, it sounds more like the Gophers are 2-5.
PHERSY: Feldy, I think you touched on something when it comes to these two coaching staffs. On Saturday, Claeys almost made me pull my hair out at his post-game news conference. He said that all wins feel good. Well, if he felt good after that gross two-point win over an awful Rutgers team, that's all I need to know about this coaching staff. An ugly win like that would be far more palatable if the team was 7-0, which frankly, it should be. But they're not, and I'm losing faith in this coaching staff by the second.
PHERSY: With the schedule this team had, they should have won nine games. They may still win eight — though it'll take at least one upset to do it — and to me, that's not enough to keep Claeys around, especially considering the schedule and his cheap buyout. If this team gets to nine wins, which would mean they beat two very good teams down the stretch, I'll change my tune. But I'm not going to hold my breath.
