The curse continues. First it was Fat Bob and now Slim. Srsly, the album with left of the dial is wonderful.

RIP.

In addition to The Replacements his own albums and the tribute album to him are fine works. Friend of mine was Slim's drummer and appeared on the tribute album with Slim's kids doing a song about the switch from parents looking after kids to the kids looking after aging parents. It's a real tearjerker and I'm going to have to throw it on now.

I'm going to have to pick up some of his solo work. looks like CD's of his 1st two solo albums are available on Amazon. Those 1st two albums are available on a two-record vinyl double album - but I don't think that double album is available on CD. one of the tribute compliations is also available on Amazon.

bottom line - the guy was really highly respected and loved in the music community. the article notes that Bruce Springsteen was being interviewed, and mentioned Slim's albums as something he was listening to.

also sounds like he helped hold the 'Mats together in the final years.

I've heard Bruce play Dunlap's songs multiple times on his SiriusXM show. I also suggest picking up the VA Tribute album, which was very well done.

Here's Jeff Tweedy's contribution, Ballad of the Opening Band:

Not so ironically, all 3 times I saw Slim play solo was as the opener, at the Minnesota Zoo & 1st Ave.
