If it’s Pitino it would have been a done deal by now. They must have a deal with Willard.

Wonder if Villanova will get mad when Richard doesn't fill up the gas tank on recruiting trips. It's amazing Villanova would hire such a terrible coach according to the many experts on here

Quite honestly, I'm not sure this is such a good move for him. He's going to be under a microscope and under a lot of pressure there. On the other hand, I wasn't sure he should have jumped head first back into the pool four years ago, and I was wrong about that. Maybe he'll thrive out east and recruit five star player after five star player. If I were him, though, one way or another, I'd miss Albuquerque.

Considering he’s managed the portal well while getting fleeced of best players and still won the league will get him hired quickly.

I don't think Richard is a bad coach at all. I think he thought he could bring speed and athletes here to play fast like he did in NM. He couldn't get them here and he didn't have a system for who he could get. There is a pretty good chance he can get them at Villanova. I think he might succeed there.

Do know this...it seems Pitino is going somewhere based on his two best guards hopping into the portal. Dent said Sunday..whereever Pitino is, I am. Washington endorsed Richard many times publicly over the season.

The difference is Niko and McCollum were already introduced at their new schools today. Villanova could have done the same with Richard.

I think Richard may be headed somewhere else, but I think Villanova is waiting for Willard.
 

Back to my original point. If Richard was there first choice, he would be signed by now they’re either waiting for Willard or their negotiating with other coaches. It could still be Pitino.

Except, the Iowa and Minnesota openings were older. I agree it appears Richard thinks he's going somewhere...and it may not be Villanova. Agree with you.
