Reusse: Too much 'me' in the college game

Basketball development shifted from schools to playgrounds over the past few decades. On playgrounds, you get picked to play based on your flashy individual moves while in schools your coach awarded playing time to team players. Meanwhile fans, even fans here, repeatedly praise prospects for being "able to create their own shot." Add to that the motivation of many college basketball players is to get to the NBA rather than stay and play for four years at their college. All these things have caused college basketball to evolve into what you see today.

Count the number of mid-range jumpers you see in the Nebraska/Minnesota game today. It is a better percentage shot, but the game is now designed for the "3". That's is why your're seeing games in the 40's like last week because the "3" isn't dropping. Also, have you noticed that when a kid gets on a break to the open lane instead of taking a pullup jumper, he tries to attack the basket with a dunk or some sort of dipsy-do type layup. More often than not the defender steps in and takes the charge. I'm 68 years old and I think I would have a good shot at beating Rodney at a game of horse with just shooting the ball 15 ft and out. He'll, really all I have to do is shoot freethrows. And I think there are many others on this board who could do the same.

you better shoot first cause if you miss you wont get the chance again!

First shot: underhand FT- H
Second shot: underhand FT-O
Don't want to be a dick.... Third shot: right-handed bank jump-shot from 10 ft ( I'm left- handed)-R....
4th shot: two-hand set-shot from the 3 pt line...S
5th shot: 15 ft right-handed jump shot from the corner...E
And your right, I would have to make every shot. Be fun trying though. I would have nothing to lose. Rodney on the other would be chastised be his teammates...lol

Moonlight, maybe now you understand why I make the comments I make regarding our "experts" on the GopherHole...In Other Words...All Talk, No Action.

I think there is too much "me" in news reporting.
Between Rosen, ruesse, shaver, souhan these guys are all about themselves.
