kind of a weird column from him. who cares if his buddy can't convince him of something that he doesn't want to be convinced of. http://www.startribune.com/even-my-...-me-this-bowl-is-in-any-way-earned/361458821/
So do guys like Reusse have an agenda?... That being one of keeping the Vikings up top & keeping the Gopher football program at the "kids table"... You don't hear him wailing against Gopher basketball like this, and they just lost to TWO South Dakota schools. It just seems like Reusse makes a concerted effort to keep Gopher football down.

He did call Richard Pitino "Little Ricky".
I would say given Pat's girth, most men named Richard would be considered Little Ricky sitting next to Fat Pat.
What does that even mean: bowl worthy? Most of these games are glorified exhibitions. MN could likely beat many of the bowl teams. They already beat 2. Is Ohio "bowl worthy?". They won 8 games, but lost to MN. If 6 wins is your only metric, then no, MN is not "bowl worthy". People mad that 5-7 teams made bowl games should be mad at the system that got us here, not the teams who made it -- or their fans who are excited to see one more game, as opposed to waiting 9 months.People actually think the Gophers are bowl worthy this year?

Such a bogus argument. Could go the other way too, a few small changes against Kent St or CSU and we could be at 3 wins just as easily.so the gophers were a half yard short of being bowl worthy? they say it is a game of inches
all the yards gained and given up, all the hours played, all the points made and surrendered, the gophers would only truly be bowl worthy had they gained those last 18 inches in the final two seconds? unless of course you don't think 6-6 teams are worthy either
Crap, Reusse isn't convinced??? That sucks. What a way to ruin my day. When Pat's not happy, I'm not happy![]()

If you hooked up Reusse to a lie detector, I think he'd admit that he has more fun when the local teams are losing.
Not just fun to write, but people here love to read and discuss those same things. Reusse and Barreiro are popular/successful because people in MN love to complain and rip on stuff.Lets face it - it's a lot more fun to write snarky, cynical negative things, than it is positive.
Didn't the Eagles go 10-6 last year?Reusse had on a writer from Philly the other day, and they were talking about what a train wreck all the Philly teams are. The best of the four pro teams last season was the Phillies, and they lost 99 games. Think about that. Reusse mentioned how much fun it would be to be a writer there right now to troll fans with the fact that the only decent team in town is Temple football, which is one of the historically awful programs in NCAA history. Lets face it - it's a lot more fun to write snarky, cynical negative things, than it is positive.
