per Reusse:

The performance of the football Gophers last Saturday in a 30-7 loss at Texas Christian was the closest a college athletic team can have to a no-show. The reason for this surely wasn’t the Texas heat, since it was 68 degrees at game time, and it wasn’t the Horned Frogs’ résumé, since they were 2-7 in the Big 12 a year ago.

From the distance of a TV den in Golden Valley, the Gophers’ disengagement appeared to start with head coach Jerry Kill. The fact he had his offense trying to run out the closing minutes of the first half to protect a 24-0 deficit was mind-boggling, at best.

Kill made no secret of his unhappiness with having this game on the schedule. The coach’s publicly stated reason was that he didn’t want to coach against his close friend, TCU’s Gary Patterson. The real reason was that Kill didn’t want to play a nonconference game where there was a decent possibility of defeat.

Too bad the Gophers didn’t show up. They might have learned something.

Go Gophers!!

Not much to argue with here. Reusse hits the nail on the head.

I don't know. I am anti-cupcake but the football coach should be involved in scheduling football games.

I had some of the same thoughts as Patrick leading up to the TCU game, but one part of the story doesn't add up to me. If Kill really had no/little input in this series being signed, then are we to believe his "best friend" Gary Patterson had no/little input in the decision as well? If that is the the case, then how can Kill feel slighted (or whatever) if a much more accomplished coach also doesn't have that type of pull? If we are to believe Patterson was more involved in the process, then shouldn't Kill have felt slighted by his buddy and want to take his team down? The behavior leading up to this game was just so reminiscent of the defeatist BS that went on during the Mason era where similar statements were made before (mostly) conference defeats.

I had never heard the rumblings about Teague/Kill not getting along or that the raise decision (one I strongly disagree with) was made by President Kaler. I've always heard Teague go out of his way to praise and/or defend Jerry Kill in media interviews and feel like he's given him the strongest of public support. I don't think TCU in year four is much of an ask for a BCS coach, especially when the other 3 games are cupcakes.

The Big Ten was very vocal about teams "toughening-up" their non-conference schedules after the announcement of a playoff system. Wanted every team to play at least one "BCS" team.

As for the TCU/UNC exchange itself? Yeah, still doesn't look good. Now let's get them back to winning.

Can we move on to SJSU already? Pretty sure there is no more to say about TCU.

My opinion is Teague will always differ from football coaches. He's a basketball, slick, fundraising guy. Football coaches tend to be more blue collar, lunch pale, hard hat guys. Fact: Teague hosts wine tasting events for the upper crust while Kill is participating in events with fans promoting Gopher Football. This doesn't mean they don't need each other.

I think the big thing is that Kill likes to recruit Texas and they have fallen flat in there last two visits. Kill obviously didn't like the match-up.

It wasn't a good match-up, simple as that.
