There's no reason to talk top four. The nucleus is here for a Big Ten title. The only teams that might hold an edge with their rosters are Michigan and Indiana. The Gophers can trump that with resolve and by defending the Barn's raised floor to the max.

Ruesse is a great read when he isn't throwing jabs at people. I love the history he brings to his articles.

However, part of me thinks this is Ruesse setting himself up to hate on Tubby when we finish 4th in the Big Ten.

This is exactly what I was thinking while reading this. Though, I don't necessarily disagree with his premise, it would be (in my opinion) unfair for it to be a "BT Title or Bust" season.

I thought it was a good article as well, but this thought was in the back of my mind before I even clicked on the thread. Set expectations a little higher than is reasonable, then bash at the end of the season if the team doesn't quite reach them.

I feel like an exorcism may be needed. How in the world did Reusse write a pro-Tubby or pro-Gopher article? I agree that he is getting ready to pound now if Tubby is 4th or worse in the conference; but I would still send a priest over to his office.

Whatever happened to Vince Grier? Loved watching him play and reminded me of Bobby Jackson. Last thing I remember, he was drafted in a late round by Miami and was the last man cut.
 

fatty patty sticking knife in tubbys back , so if gophs are not top 2 tubby is a lousy coach. Preseason gophs were rated 6th , so top 4 or 5 is a good season. Top 2 is outstanding season
 

Wonder where cowardly Souhan has been all this time... god forbid he talk about the Gophers during a good stretch
 

Souhan wrote one article after the first game, he was happy that Tubby opened the lockeroom to the media... Go figure, since than MIA, but will probably see him after our next loss
 



I do think we have the nucleus to be a darkhorse for the title, but everything would have to go right and someone would have to emerge as the go to guy, we have alot of balance, but when times are tough, whose gonna be our Bobby Jackson. I see us as a the fourth or 5th best team in conference and this year our tourney seed might be better than our conference placement
 

Pat is right. Most holers cant accept the wins this team should have at the end. Even this team, in year 6.

Gophs could win 13 in conf without a big stretch. Holers wont admit it.
 

His actual prediction was the Gophers finishing third so he's not predicting they'll win the B1G. Just that the talent is there for it to happen.
