Is anyone else out there planning to show their gopher pride instead of the purple? Our group is first row season ticket holders for da gophs and have sat through many rough games, but this a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get the gophers some good national pub. We plan on arriving very early to try and get the same seats we have for the gophs, and decking out in maroon. may also make a "jerry kill for prez sign" or a "gopher football players don't complain when its cold" or just the usual "wisconsin sucks" sign.

any other gopher rubes out there?

Not a bad idea.

Think somehow Maturi could score a halftime in-booth interview for Kill? Let him chew the fat with Gruden, Turiko and Jaws? That could be quite the facetime/recruiting tool!

To be honest, I call lameness. There is no reason for fans to wear Vikings gear to a Gophers game (in fact they get ripped here all the time) and the same holds true for a Vikings game, even if it is at TCF. The Jerry Kill or Wisconsin signs are good ideas though.

but there is a reason to wear gophers gear to this particular vikings game: good publicity for the program by showing dedicated fans, etc...

How about a bunch of Gophers fans go shirtless to the game, paint themselves Maroon and Gold, spelling out GOPHERS? Easy for me to say, of course, I won't be the one getting cold.

Tremendous, Tremendous Effort. I am all for it.

Eh, I disagree but I wouldn't point and laugh at you if I got to go to the game. :)

You would be about the equivalent of those annoying NDSU fans who chant "Sioux Suck" no matter who the opponent is. The reality is that ESPN is broadcasting the game for the NFL. They will do everything they can to minimize the College aspect (cut aways to fans in stands, no interviews with U of M personal). I would guess they will interview a member of the Vikings organization (probably Wilf) at half time who will be very complimentary to the U, but that will be about the extent of it. They will show much more stock footage of the current state of the Metrodome than they will show of TCF.

That's dumb...I'm glad we would never do that here, especially with Iowa.

I will be at the game on Monday night, and in all likelihood, I'll be wearing Gopher stuff. Simple reason...I don't have any cold-weather Vikings gear; it's all Gopher stuff. They play outdoors, you know.

Finally, some rational thinking about what is going to happen on Monday night.

There will still be plenty of great shots of the stadium. The good pub will be there. It just won't be overt like some are hoping.

You are right that ESPN will try to make the NFL happy, but that might include a lot of shots and compliments of TCF. It is in the NFLs best interest for the Vikings to get a new stadium.

That being said, I will be there in purple.

I'm aware. They would describe you as a Minnesota sports fan if they commented on your clothing on TV, no mention of you as a gophers fan though.

I agree, I think that is why you will see many shots of the caved in dome. I would think that MNF does a better rating in MN that a typical Sunday game, but I don't know.

Just don't spell out GRIZZLIES and send the Z's to get beer....

As many Kill Signs as possible for Monday. Lets get the announcers to talk about Kill, because we have Webb starting, its cold, and we are out of the playoffs, that means there is a great chance for a blowout and the commentators will be looking for anything to talk about,

I'm not sure if you are joking or not but it's a reference to this commercial.

No, I had never seen that commercial until just now. Usually those Bud Light commercials are funny, but that one sucks and is not funny. If you have to work that hard to set up a joke (with something that would never happen in a million years, nonetheless), it's not funny. I'm not surprised that Art would think it's hilarious.

One thing that might happen is that they will show Bronko Nagurski's retired number on the facade of the upper deck. He relates to the game, since he played for the Bears.

I will be wearing my Gopher winter jacket for sure. Sorry, I don't own a Viking winter jacket.

The one part of the stadium that might be shown is the locker room.

We should also see the a nice aerial view if they have a blimp and there will be plenty of interior looks since I'm betting you'll see the Monday Night Countdown guys set up on the interior plaza.
