Replace Arizona State with Minnesota in this article

Minnesota is a place where people go to vacation? ;)

Good stuff as always.

They have a tougher job there because there is very little good basketball played in Phoenix area.
Metro university with professional teams makes for poor attendance and lack of media spotlight just like here. At AZ, Lute knew he had to recruit CA and he had many connections there due to his time at Long Beach State. Going to be tough for them.

There's a ton of stuff to do in that area year-round too (golf, for example). I had a buddy who went to ASU and went out to visit him a few times. Absolutely gorgeous campus...parts of it are very similar to a resort getaway. The weather, women, and metro-Phoenix are all great factors for luring recruits, but as is the case here, there's deeper issues involved. Such a shame.

Tubby and Herb were both Pitino assistants who did not keep Pitino's style after they left his staff and ventured out on their own. Both Tubby and Herb prefer a grinder game, as opposed to Pitinio's uptempo, pressing style.

The key is players. Tubby's troop is young. His young kids will become players.

And Pitino is doing so well at Louisville.

Some at Louisville want his ass fired.

The Gophers have done fairly well from an attendance perspective despite somehow managing to go 15 years without winning a tournament game. I find the "crowded sports market" to be a BS excuse for struggling programs, the Gophers have been god awful on their home court for two years now. If the product is good, the interest will be there. As long as the product is crap, there won't be a ton of interest. There are very few programs in the nation that can put a bad product out there and consistently draw good crowds (South Carolina in football is one example). ASU has a tiny arena and has to deal with a program that is just below "blue blood" status in its own state. Arizona is simply not big enough to have two consistently good programs especially when they reside in the same conference.

Some here want Tubby's ass fired. I think Pitino is doing a little better there than Tubby here. He is 113-54 in conference coming into this year. Tubby was 32-37 in conference.

I agree. For the program results we have, our support has been very good for basketball.

Gotta love Lisa LOVE!

Not only their basketball but also other programs are in shamble. Lisa Love is the U version of Maturi. Her last football HC hiring process this year was miserable at best. It is ironic that ASU not only have Maroon and Gold but also sloppy AD.

Not saying this isn't true, but is anyone (GW, I know you have looked this stat up before) able to look up the tempo stats for Pitino at Lousiville, Tubby at Minnesota and Herb at ASU?

Curious how different the numbers come out to be.
