Monter at Scout says that Rengel will grayshirt. Does that mean we take an extra this year? Also says he is looking at playing H-back. I hope his knee recovers fully. I think taking the extra time is a good idea.

He will be a career special teams or transfer to a smaller school anyways. He will never get carries with Lipscomb, Eskridge, Bennett, etc...

That's not what it looks like they want him to do. They want to get him up to about 245 and use him as a TE/H-back. I like that idea.

He's not a running back. H-back = combo Fullback/Tight End.

like the Vikings did with the no talent Kleinsasser.

I think they want him to slim down a bit to become more of a Aaron Hosack/Ben Kuznia type

Is Kleinsasser worth the "franchise tag"?

I think you're making things up. An H-back would need to bulk up. He's more like a Ben Utecht when he came in to school. Not fast enough to play as a WR but not big enough to play TE yet. The extra time will help him rehab his knee injury and bulk up for Big Ten football.
