Final recap for the June Miller Pro City League for 2010
By Rene Pulley
With the "Fish" (El-Amin's Fish House) winning again to 3-Peat; Khalid El-Amin and his crew have now won 4 out of the last 5 championships. What made this year different is he won without Jamal Staten, Bruce Price and Kevin Henderson but had great play from Dan Coleman, Devron Bostick, Levi Jones, Jake Thomas, Royce White, P.J. Hill, DeAndre Townsend and Urule Igbavboa. All are former Pulley Panthers except Devron Bostick.
This was not a piece of cake because they had to beat a very strong 123PRINT.COM team twice in the playoffs and play 5 days in a row coming from the losers bracket. 123PRINT.COM was led by Cameron Rundles, Jamar Diggs and Marshall Brown (DNP) who added a jump shot to his game along with his thundering dunks and was very hard to deal with. Jeremy Sutherland, Carl Hipp, Matt Johnson, Carlos Emery and Trent Davis was a great supporting cast to make this an outstanding summer and one game away from being the Champions.
Errol Carlstrom Playaz was the front runner until Championship Week Tuesday with a 9-0 record, and then lost two in a row to 123PRINT.COM and The Fish. They were led by the overpowering Trevor Mbakwe, Steve Essellink, Isaac Rosefelt, Mike Muscala, Mitch Ohnstad, Joe Scott, Eric Webb, Blake Hoffarber and Eric Stark.
Sabes Foundation added two former Pulley Panthers, Kwadzo Ahlegbe and David Hicks, that make it very close but no cigar. Rich Melzer, Rodney Williams, Ken Maxey, A.J. Wilson, Marcus Hill and Johnny Gilbert rounded out the roster.
Information Investors Group had a good season with a lot of Division 2 & 3 player but was in every game with a chance to win. They were led by Jontae Koonkaew, Peter Crawford, Wade Guerin, Marcus Helland, Josh Figini (D-1), Nick Nesbitt, Xavier Reed, Zach Towle, Shane Manor and Tyrell Sledge.
Pat Madison Magic was a contending team when everyone was able to show up and was not injured. They were a Fourth/Fifth seed in the playoffs but were eliminated early. They were led by All League player Lamar Moore plus Romain Martin, Austin Hollins (showed signs), Armond Battle, Octavius Hawkins, Mike Schactner, Elliott Eliason (upside), Al Nolen and Colton Iverson.
King Tutt's Fortress was a straw house throughout the summer but the young men showed up and played very hard each time and became a better team as the season progressed. Dominique Dawson was a much improved player this year over 2009. He might be able to help the Gophers this upcoming season.
June Miller Time had a blast playing against a lot of the former Pulley Panthers, Division 1, 2 & 3 and European Pro's to continue to develop their skills for the future.
I want to thank all the teams, players and mostly the fans that showed up regularly every night to cheer the guys on and make this season very special for them. So until 2011, stay tuned. I also, want to thank Errol Carlstrom who gave El-Amin’s team the nickname "The Fish".
