Remember heading into this year many posters agreed with Brewster that this program was better than when he found it? Anyone still believe that?

No. No, I don't.

But the bourbon was/will be very, very good today.

Of course not. It is a preposterous statement. Mase's last team was an average bowl team. Our current squad is one of the 5 worst FBS teams this year. I do think we have some talent and it is possible for a new coach to make big gains as soon as next year. But we better find someone that can coach and can lead a team. We look rudderless. I sure hope they start giving Gray more time at QB as a way to get him ready for next year. We can still try and upset one of our rivalry games, but it is hard to see how we'll stay within 40 in any of them...

I actually hope Brew is right.. that this is the most athletic team we've had since he's been here. Because, if he is correct (and I believe him), it just means they aren't getting coached right. Which essentially means Brew sucks. We already know this, so that just expedites his dismissal.

I was a student manager with the team from 04-07. I was there for Mason's last three years and Brewster's first (1-11). I think this program has taken a few big steps backwards. Brewster may have recruited some more athletes but if you can't coach them, the results aren't going to be any different. I saw that in year one. The teams that Mason had may have had less athletes but they competed much more regularly than Brewster's have. Going from a 4-4 team to a 6-2 team in the Big Ten is a tough thing to do. Maturi must not have realized that, and as a result, him and Pasadena Brew may have their second 0-8 Big Ten season in 4 years. Mason had his shortcomings but his teams consistently buried inferior non-conference opponents and never went winless in the Big Ten. This program right now is on a collision course with Jim Wacker type results.

Guilty as charged

My confession is I drank the Koolaid. I launched into historionics to cover up program mistakes and misdeeds. I even became an apologist for some guy from Illinois. Yes. I did it. I posted in his favor. Is the chopping block over there!

I actually do think this team has talent. It just has terrible coaching.

Horrible clock management and unbelievably bad play calling in a crucial situation with less than 45 seconds left.

Don't coaches have a set of plays they go to in 2 minute drill situations like this? Even if a draw play up the middle is even on that list, why would you EVER call that at mid-field?
