Some of you may have seen the Bishop Gorman (NV) game on TV last Saturday. I have said this before, but one of my co-workers kid is on that team and is getting recruited. The whole process is crazy. I guess that coaches can text juniors starting on Thursday. She knows that he will learn nothing in school that day. She also said that the NCAA is behind the curve in trying to catch up with the realities of contemporary recruiting practices (many kids are committing to schools long before they can take an official visit). Sounds crazy. That being said, I hope that our coaches start making contact with some juniors on Thursday who will eventually lead us to many great victories!

College coaches have to be salesmen in addition to tacticians and teachers.

Some coaches win enough that their record closes the sale (Saban/Meyer etc), we don't have that luxury.

I think this post is more about the process than what our classes are looking like right now. My best friend's kid is a super talented and smart QB here in Houston. He has started on the varsity level since his freshman year and is now a junior. I have twice had contact with Billy Glasscock about this kid and he assures me he is on the Gopher radar but is not allowed to start recruiting him until September first of his junior year, which is Thursday. It's a crazy process and extremely stressful on the kids and their parents. The Gophers will do just fine, let the chaos begin.

How does the reactions of one recruits mother on the receiving end of the recruiting frenzy relate to peoples panic about our recruiting results? Denguegophers co-worker has a kid that's becomes fair game for the recruiters on Thursday, I do believe that, see sees her son as fresh meat and the sharks are circling.

Think that if you want, but our 2018 commitment list looks terrible right now.

My understanding is that Meyer tells his assistant coaches that if they want to head coach one day in CFB and don't want to focus on recruiting ..... they should give up and remain assistants or coordinators. The implication being it doesn't matter what kinda coach you are if you can't or don't recruit.

On the other hand we had Brewster.... so I guess it kinda matters a bit.

Even if Sherels will not be able to coach for awhile, I hope he will be part of the recruiting process. He has been one of our better!!
