Some recruiting tid-bits from Rivals. Gopher commit Owen Salzwedel had 7.5 sacks in his last game.

Jalen Myrick is a Gopher despite some interest from Georgia Tech. Demaris Peppers has Gophers on top still but may take a few visits.

Malik Rucker will be at the Gopher game Saturday and still talks with the Gopher staff.

Onwualu is still hearing from the Gophers, Brookins is not. Eric Carter has Gophers #1 but will visit Marshall.

whatwhatwhat???

7.5 sacks in his last game? Or 7.5 sacks this season, as of his last game?

In one GAME. Their team had 9 sacks total.

Thanks for the update Stan. Any word on if Brookins knee injury is the reason the staff is no longer keeping in touch?

i would say more than likely. hate to say it but the kid is probably damaged goods now. He doesn't have a good knee left

Aaron Batten is set to visit for the Purdue game. He's listed as 6'4" 218 and a TE. We're currently his only listed official and are in his favorites with Connecticut and Duke.

I was bit surprised when Kill said that they'd like to get a TE for this class, considering they are redshirting Maxx and Duke. But, athletes are athletes. They may also be looking at him more as a WR, since Kill emphasizes blocking at that position, and he looks pretty quick.

He also looks particularly dominant because Dade Christian plays at the 2A level. They're a solid program, but the competition is weak.

Thanks for the updates. Would like to see the Gophers in on a few more kids with better offers, but it's good to see an early verbal like Myrick is getting interest from Tech.

Battan doesn't look to bad, seems to be pretty athletic with some room to grow. Who else is in town this weekend?

He's not in town this weekend. Purdue game.

As for this weekend, the only listed recruit is Alex Mayes, but there are typically more local players that aren't listed on the recruiting sites. Someone else might know more than me.

Malik Rucker from Robinsdale Cooper will be at the Northwestern game

Hopefully he brings along that running back from the Cooper Hawks with him. That kid has a little juice and some want to about him.
Rucker needs to ditch the chicken hawks offer, Iowa City isn't that much fun of a place to be in without the football weekends and it is just slightly
warmer place in the Winter, not much better than here with less trees to break the wind. More girls will know ya here too.
That and the U has tunnels that you can stay
in when heading to class if you want to get around West bank and East bank and a much better commuter system with the transit busses
and the new light rail line coming to campus next year. Iowa your on your own, and your less likely to have a scooter to ride around on besides
the other transit options. Minnesota and the U, your going places besides just football, with a U degree Mr Rucker you have alumni in this town
that will have your back when it is hiring time, the Iowa degree will not carry as much weight
in Chicago, Minneapolis, Indianapolis or any of the Big 10 emplyoment city's.

vaguely threatening/begging plea to Malik Rucker

I'm getting sick of seeing this kind of "advice" to players like Malick Rucker and Keelon Brookins, etc. You guys make it sound like their lives will be ruined because they got a degree from Madison or Iowa City and that every employer in the Twin Cities will have a picture of these guys behind their desks with the words DO NOT EMPLOY on it.

And if I hear one more person warn Rucker about getting injured if he goes to Iowa...I'm going to flip.

Please, just give it a rest. It makes the rest of us look bad.
