Probably a dumb question, but if it a dead period for recruiting, how do kids know a school wants them to come on a visit?

Seems all these visits are getting set up during a dead period for late January. Do kids just know an official visit is available to them?

I believe coaches can still call once a week and write them as much as they want on Facebook, through mail, etc.

Dead Period:The college coach cannot make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians. This prevents the coach from making any evaluations of you whatsoever. However, the coach can make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians.

Quiet Period: During this time a college coach cannot watch you compete at any location. It is allowed for the college coach to make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians if it occurs on the coach's campus. The coach can still make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians, and you can make visits to college campuses during this time.

12-16-13 thru 01-15-14 Dead Period *with the following exception (i)
(i) Contact Period. Coaches may have contact with a recruit who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the recruit has signed a National Letter of Intent.
02-02-14 Quiet Period
02-03-14 thru 02-06-14 Dead Period

With the dead period the recruit may call the coaches whenever. The coaches, as said earlier, only get one call. But yes they can be contacted thru facebook as much as they want.
