I've just logged on, so I havent't read all of the threads and I certainly hope I'm not repeating a similar thread.

First, I support the new coach, Jerry Kill, and hope he is successful in fielding quality teams that are fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball.

I'm sure we all had our wish lists as to the next coach of the Gophers, not unlike when it comes to recruiting players to the U. However, now that the decision has been made and the selection process has been completed, I support the one that has cast his lot with the Gophers and not pine for those that said no.

Kill's track record looks fairly impressive and comes from the MAC, which has had a very good record of turning out quality coaches in the Big 10 and elsewhere.

As to the question about his health, he seems to have overcome his battle with cancer, at least I hope so, and has a good bill of health. I remember Bo Schembechler had a heart attack before their first Rose Bowl game and went on to have a storied career at Michigan. (Bo, of course, was another graduate of the MAC.)

It'll be interesting to see how many of Kill's assistants will follow him to Gopherland, and how many, if any, will be retained from the current roster of assistants.

I look forward to tomorrow's press conference to see and hear if Kill details his vision for Gopher football as Minnesota's newest coach.

Go Gophers!!
