Teague was on with Spencer and Grimm. These are not verbatim, but close:

Teague on the process…it’s been a fun process. It could have been longer and I’d have no problem with that. If you rush, just because you feel like you need to name someone, it’s just not smart. We got a really special guy. I knew he was the guy 30 minutes into the interview. It screamed at me.

Teague on fans worrying that Pitino will leave after a few years…There’s one thing I can control is our relationship. That’s so important to his Father. I’ve seen that in my experience as an AD.

Teague on Pitino’s passion…He is a smart guy. He knows we need a practice facility and we’ll get one. He also knows we have a lot to offer. He’ll be innovative in how he recruits. It’s refreshing. He’ll inject unbelievable enthusiasm in the program.

Teague on practice facility fundraising…We haven’t really started fundraising for it but we got a nice gift towards it. There is a strong possibility we’ll start architectural design this summer. It will take three years to get it done, from planning, design and building. This plan has a lot of football, women’s gymnastics, academic area. It will be really, really neat.

Go Gophers!!

Gopher07, trying being more negative, go ahead...

Ha, just playing. I was hoping we would've started the process of fundraising by now given it's such a pressing need, but suppose they do have to finalize plans so they can get something to show to potential donors first.

Norwood has been developing relationships with folks who have money it takes time and sometimes years. I have found it takes a sales rep five times of either calling or more importantly being face to face calling on an individual before the customer even sniffs at what the rep has to say. It takes time especially with big money donors they don't want to feel like they got hood winked.;)

Teague is smart. He secured a large gift to kick off the campaign. Start the official fundraising after a new coach is hired, when there is energy. Folks only give their initial gift once.. you want that gift to be as large as possible.

Hope the architectural stuff happens this summer so we can have some new pictures to dream about haha.

I am hopeful for when they start fundraising for donations lower than 1 million. I would love to contribute some.

Didn't know where to post this exactly, but this is awesome!!!

@RandBall: Pitino gets use of a private jet for recruiting. Can't exceed $50K in expenses on it in one fiscal year. #gophers

I have no way of knowing if $50K is like a good number, or if that's not much anyway, but it's better than $0.

Same here, I have no idea what that means. It doesn't sound like very much to me though.

It sounds like a small number which could be limiting.. but that its a good start?

$500 per hour for the jet, flight time.
$200 per hour for the pilot, flight time.

Use it wisely.

But there are a few corporate jets out there to donate flight time and pilot time to recruiting.

Could be a donation from a booster or sponsor stating that they are allowed to use their company/private aircraft and they are limiting that donation to $50k worth of travel per year.

so the new building opens summer 2016. Henry and Alex will at least know it'll be there by their sophomore year.

I think he combined the entire building plans with the practice facility. Notice how he mentions football, gymnastics, academics in there. Unless it's one huge practice facility for all teams?

Does anyone have any info on the gift?

$50k does sound small. I would guess that a single flight in a small jet would cost a couple thousand dollars or more when you think about paying for the plane, fuel, and pilot(s). $50k wouldn't even buy him 2 dozen flights in that case. I'm sure he's making a decent amount less than Tubby - I'm thinking they could have put some more of that money towards travel and made it $100k or more.

At least it is now in a contract, and can grow in the future. The main thing is, it is in a contract to get started.

He only needs a bus pass for the class of 2014. Therefore, I hope he can defer part of it into the next year if he doesn't use the full allotment.
