Coach Kill was on Madison's ESPN affiliate station on the "Jump Around" show. These notes are not verbatim, but they are close:

Kill on Minnesota/Wisconsin rivalry...
It's a great game in history. The rivalry games are like bowl games with the added incentives. For it to become a real rivalry again we have to do our part. We're doing all we can in our program to make that game exciting. Wisconsin has done it on their end and we have to do it on our end.

Kill on taking the next step as a program...We'll take a next step, but to see how big of a step it is will depend on our older guys. At the other programs we had three recruiting classes, but we got this job so late so we only have had two classes. We'll make some strides. We have a better football team, but I don't know what that means. We'll look at a lot of game film, we'll have to play better in the 4th quarter.

Kill on Phillip Nelson...I think our QB position is in a better state than any time I've been here. We have a QB situation like we had at Northern Illinois. We took the redshirt off Phillip when we played Wisconsin and he's learning and progressing. He can run and throw the ball pretty well. He had a great spring scrimmage. He's the type of young man who is a the type of leader we want leading our football team. Phillip is a big key to our success.

Kill on recruiting at Minnesota...We can make all the excuses we want to make, but we have a great place. The biggest thing we don't do is we need to brag more about what we got. This is a tremendous city and a great place to live. I don't think we tell our story enough. With all the things we've got going on we need to let more people in on our story. Great student body, great people. The biggest thing we have to do from a recruiting process is making sure we do a good job of bringing a young person in who fits what we want to do.

Kill on the bowl game last year...There's no question the practices helped. I know so much more about the team. The great thing about our situation is we had nobody late, everyone was on time. We had a chance to get out and be better than we were a year ago because of the bowl game. Most of the time in football if you lose the game you don't win it, and we lost that game. We have to be able to get those wins. Once you get them you get used to it. When we beat Minnesota when I was at Northern it set the tone and we started rolling. We have to have a signature win. We're due for one of those.

Kill on UW's new coach...I've gotten to know him a little bit. As a football fan the job he did was tremendous where he was at. I know people throughout the country who have good things to say. I think its a great hire and I think he'll do a great job and he's in a great situation. Coach Alvarez has built a tremendous program. Hopefully we can do that at Minnesota. That system is rolling pretty good. I wish him all the luck in the world except for one game!

Go Gophers!!

Hmm....still I bet he walked out of there thinking: " F-you and the horse you rode in on Becky"!
Hee..hee

I think Jerry needs to get on as many stations across the country and be as nice as he was on that broadcast. Any time you can get free air time to broadcast our program, it is a means of telling our story. Good job, Coach Kill! I want him out there being folksy and nice.
