I thought it would be fitting to not only remember, but honor the woman behind Coach Kill: Rebecca Kill. I had some visitors this weekend who attended the Northwestern game and they came away very impressed. Of course the conversation eventually went to where this team was and where it’s going. I went through the history; the BrewBall years and the humble beginnings with Jerry Kill at the helm. One thing that came up loud & clear was the utmost respect they had for Rebecca Kill.
We went through the September 10, 2011 game where we saw the human emotional side of Kill’s family and got an inside look inside a family that was dealing with epilepsy. We also got to see several other real life situations that were difficult even as a fan – not to mention the family. Through it all, Rebecca Kills name comes up as the support and the woman behind the successful man. Without Rebecca Kill, our program would not be enjoying the same level of success we have now. She has endeared fans and non-fans to the Gophers and to the Epilepsy Foundation.
I doubt very much she reads this board, but I know everyone would be encouraged by your accolades regarding Rebecca Kill; the woman behind the man, husband, father, and beloved coach. We sometimes bemoan the fact that Jerry Kill recruits for the program not caring about “Star Power”. Well, his first recruit, Rebecca Kill not only fits the program, but is the ultimate “Blue Chipper”.
