It might not seem like it, but the more I think about it this is the perfect time for Seantrel to join the program. Seantrel is always going to be a stud, a star, and beloved by all Minnesota no matter who the coach here is.
If Brewster stays, bringing on Seantrel on signing day might salve some wounds between Maturi and Brewster (if that is possible) without requiring the extension Maturi does not want to give. Even if we go the "lame duck" extensionless route Maturi seems to prefer, I sincerely believe that this one, single player will give us a chance at winning at least 2 more games next year than we would without him. I sincerely believe that. If we are competitive next year in every game and come in with 7 or more wins, that extension will be Brewster's.
If Brewster goes, Seantrel will provide a bulwark and rallying center for the fans, the administration, the entire incoming coaching staff and all 2010 recruits.
Either way, Seantrel will be the face of Gopher football, both physically on the field symbolically for the school and state, as the highest regarded player ever to choose to stay home and play football for the U.
