This was a team loss.
Perimeter D---terrible
Sampson---terrible
Free Throws---must improve
Rebounding---got beat by a smaller team
Joseph---see Sampson above
Iverson---too slow
2nd half shot selection---too rushed
Well, I guess tomorrow is another day. I'm sure Tubby is already thinking about ways to get them back on track. He doesn't want another Texas A&M/Portland slide.

Effort---terrible
Coaching---epic fail
Ranking---gone

You can't really compare Devoe's play to Sampon's tonight. Devoe wasn't THAT bad until the very end when we were basically out of it and we needed to jack up threes anyway. I believe Sampson now has a total of 2 points in 2 games against Virginia.

Seriously? You really don't think you're overreacting? Good teams lose to bad teams in every sport at every level. If you really are that worried about us making the tournament you must be extremely neurotic, no offense.

We have always had difficulty with a hot shooting 3 pt. team. We beat NC and WV because they couldn=t knock down 3's. With all the bigs we got (by the way Mo was better than Colt and Ralph!) we should never doulbe down low and leave shooter open.

anyone else get the feeling that ralph was still on thanksgiving break somewhere. he played in a daze tonight, and usually he puts up good numbers with his dad in the house. something is up there, i cant buy that it was just a bad night because theres bad and then theres THAT bad.

Rough game for the defense. This is a prime example of how Nolen is so important to the sustained success of this team.

Minnesota gave up 58 points! in the second half. Wow. I don't think I can remember a Gopher team that allowed 58 points in a single half...ever. Two seasons ago, Minnesota surrendered fewer than 40 points IN A SINGLE GAME to Illinois.

I am, however, happy to see that people aren't completely blaming this loss on not having Al Nolen. Sure, his absence hurt the Gophers, but it wasn't the reason Minnesota ALLOWED 58 POINTS IN THE SECOND HALF. Look, this team did just fine without Nolen last season. I can't wait until he returns, but Minnesota should not be losing to Virginia. I can't even believe I typed that. Minnesota lost to Virginia...yuck.

i really really disagree on devoe! i thought other than mbakwe devoe was the only other bright spot. i think blake played horrible defense tonight. he was really getting beat coming off of picks! blake and devoe kept us in this game so im not trying to pick on hoff. i do think blake is over-rated but an absolute asset so take that how you want! hollins played like a freshman! hollins was always late on the switch causing huge passing lanes that lead to wide open shots which virginia hit. iverson on defense was just brutal, one step and he was done, looked like 7th grader trying to guard allen iverson!
