How will the players react knowing that they probably need to win the next 3 games to save their coach and that they OWE the crowd one after last Saturday? Will they play like Kansas that beat #17 Georgia Tech? SCal is not the championship team it was a few years ago - it the team has any mettle, any will to get over the embarassment - its TIME!!!

get real, losing by less than 40 would be moral vistory for Cosgrove and his flock

They don't owe the crowd anything. You pay for ENTERTAINMENT! Unfortunately all fans were embarrassed by the outcome, but you are not owed anything.

Well... I think some would argue that's exactly WHY the players owe the fans something: the fans PAID to be entertained, and they most certainly were not. They could have done a lot of other things with their Saturday. In fact, the Gophers didn't even do some things that they are supposed to do and are within their control (i.e. sing the Alma Mater, supposedly part of the game-day tradition).

They did not get the outcome they expected, but probably were engaged with the on field action until the end of the fourth quarter. You don't pay to watch them sing the Alma Mater. If you do pay to listen to them sing the alma mater and the game day tradition, then this game was consistent with the past forty years of gopher football and you got what you paid for.

That's just not true. By 5 minutes into the third quarter, I wasn't engaged by the action, and I wasn't going to be entertained, win or lose. The game was embarrassing and difficult to watch well before half time.

Did you stay in the stadium or glued to your TV?

As you say, I paid for entertainment, not to get kicked in the giblets. That was the furthest thing from entertainment I can recall. I enjoyed playing giant jenga while tailgating more than watching that abomination by a factor of 100.

Like it or not, we are owed effort. We didn't get our money's worth. If that level of effort is consistent with what we can expect the rest of the year, let's see how many people stick around to be entertained by year's end.

I will, because I clearly effing hate myself. I bet a lot of others won't.

You saw poor play/execution not necessarily poor effort.

The way they didn't even shake the Coyotes hands or stay for the song at the end shows how much "effort" they cared to put in...

Did I mention Weber cussing at the fans?

Weber's alleged cursing would be poor sportsmanship, but it takes effort. Being upset and embarrassed indicates effort was given. Acting like it was just another outcome of another game would show lack of effort (and some class which would have been nice). But it isn't the first time college aged men have had issues with controlling emotions.
