I just checked the ABC Map for Saturday's regional games.

Sadly, the Des Moines/Ames t.v. viewing area in which I live and the western half of the state will have the Texas Tech - Nebraska game. Eastern Iowa (Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Quad Cities, etc.) will have the Minnesota - Penn State game. Southwestern Minnesota will have the Texas Tech - Nebraska game as well.

Oh well, the same thing happened ten years ago and we know how that turned out for the Gophers when they played Penn State. Maybe it's a positive omen.

In any case, a victory Saturday would certainly make my recovery from recent knee replacement surgery that much better.

Go Gophers!!

The Gopher game will be on ESPN/ESPN2 in any market that is showing a different game on ABC. See here for details.

Thanks, GoAUpher!

That's great news. I appreciate the info.

Go Gophers!!

Could you link to the map? I csan't find this weeks.

Thanks.

Duluth is carrying either the Gophers or Neb/TT at 2:30 on ESPN. I don't care to speculate which one.

Here's the map:

Map is attached as well since the website its on has been down at times recently.

It's funny that people in Mobile, Alabama will be tuning in to see Penn State v. Minnesota (campus thousands of miles away) while people in Worthington, Minnesota will be getting the Nebraska/Texas Tech game.

Yea, SW MN really gets screwed by being in the Souix Falls local market. ABC regional games are often B12 instead of B10 and if you have a dish you get the Souix Falls local channels.

 Ugh .... All of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana should all be getting this game on ABC. Screw Nebraska.

Oh well, I guess that's what happens when they're ranked. And who, in America, doesn't get ESPN anyway?

All of NoDak/SoDak is a little odd (both states have many Twins/Vikings fans but there is no natural connection to the Gophers) but I definitely must ask why Montana? :)

Nebraska is a way bigger draw in most of Iowa than Minnesota is.

cool. now please go and tell your hogeye friends on the iowa board that. no one here really cares.

That guy apparently did given that he was mystified at Minnesota not being on TV here. It wasn't really knock on Minnesota, just an explanation. Also, that is not the name of our team!

The media market for professional sports in Minnesota has traditionally included all of the Dakotas and most of Montana. Including Montana is certainly a streach on my part. And the market for college sports is different. Over the last few decades Denver has successfully turned itself into the sports market for almost the entire Mountain Time Zone and beyond. The Broncos are actually now on the radio everywhere in MT and several Dakota stations.

Nebraska is a way bigger draw in most of Iowa than Minnesota is.

True... but only when they are good. Ultimately Iowa is a Big Ten state. The prominence of Nebraska screws with that. The networks are going to consider SD and IA to be Big Ten country as long as the Huskers aren't ranked. That was my point ... Nebraska being decent is bad for Minnesota's exposure in staes with a lot of alumni and former residents. Not too badly though... they're still on ESPN everywhere.

South Dakota is divided basically into three sections when it comes to big-time college allegiance. The southeastern corner is rife with Huskers fans, unfortunately. The extreme southwest has a great deal of Wyoming fans. The rest of the state is a hodge-podge with a little bit of everything - generally speaking, whoever the hot team is nationwide gets a lot of run. People up in my old neck of the woods (northeast corner) care way more about their favorite local school (Northern, SDSU, USD, Augie, NDSU, UND, etc.) than they do about DI-A sports. My immediate family follows the Gophers moderately only because I went here. But I honestly cannot think of one other person back home who would even be able to name the U of M's mascot. It's really pretty sad the lack of care SD has for the Gophers.

Bayfield...

Where did you get your info that WDIO is not carring the Gophers? I didn't think they get to pick and choose....I'm just curious.

Dpodoll68, hate to disagree, but I live in NE SD, played for the U and know more fans in our area are Gopher fans, than Huskers, not evenclose.

*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#. I just checked my guide and it says either Nebraska/Texas Tech or PSU/Minny. I'm in Spokane, WA. Anybody have any idea of which game they'll show here?

I am going to be irate if I can't watch this game!

Per the info I attached/linked to above, you'll get the MN game on either ESPN or ESPN2 (with the Nebraska game taking the other channel). You've got UCLA playing on ABC.

Interesting FL...will get the PSU/MN game...

...over the Carolina/BC game.

Would be great to have a win on national TV tomorrow.

I am fortunate that ESPN will carry the PSU/MN for me in TX.

SKI-U-MAH!

Beat the Nitty Kitties.

Please go back and re-read my post. You clearly did not read it correctly the first time. Thanks.
