Rashede Hageman is now a 4star on Scout.com

Do anyone have any stats from his Under Armour game?

Must have had a killer week of practice

not sure if you were being facetious...but Ra'Shede had an excellent week down in Orlando earlier this month. in fact, he blew the 'onlookers' away...:D

I was actually being serious. He must have showed the scouts a lot going against top competition in practice even though he didn't get to show it in the game. Happy to see it!

Rivals Updates

Rivals moved Ra'Shede up to the #6 TE from somewhere in the 8-10 range. Unfortunately only the first 5 TE's are rated 4 stars so that implies he is the best 3 star TE. Previously the top 6-8 (I can't remember the specific cut off) had 4 stars so Ra'Shede passed a few players and they lost they moved down to 3 stars. Last year there were more than 10 TE's with 4 stars so it appears that this class doesn't have the depth at TE that last year had.

Rivals is going through their updates position by position and Garin should be updated late tonight or tomorrow. Amongst Gopher commits, Garin probably has the best chance of gaining a fourth star.

Alipate moved up to #16 overall Pro Style QB. He is still 3 stars but it at least moves him one ahead of the Badger's QB recruit.

I think it is interesting to say the least that guys ratings can change so much after the season is over merely by playing in one more all-star game or in some instances not playing a single down since the season ended, yet they somehow become a better player.

I think that it's more about more data giving more complete information. It's easier to rate a player when you get to see him along side similarly skilled athletes. What I think it says more though is how many athletes get missed because they don't get this opp?

It has more to do with the scouts reviewing footage from a player's senior season than anything else. The ratings start off based on production during their junior year and at camps over the summer before their senior year. It is normal for high school athletes to improve a lot from year to year and within the season and it obviously varies by player so I don't think that changes after the season should surprise anyone. It's not like they go through and update ratings during every week of the season. At the end of the year they review everybody and they watch the HS all star games to see how elite players compete against other elite players making the ratings more precise for these players.

#50 in the nation?

I know most people on here focus on Rivals.com and Scout.com rankings, but today I was looking at Tom Lemming's Recruiting page on cbssportsline and found that he has Ra'shede ranked as the #50 player in the country. I've heard of Lemming before, but this is the first time I've visited his site. What do other people think of his rankings?

well he has been doing this the longest and is considered one of the best if not the best recruiting expert out there

If there are two things Tom Lemming loves

well he has been doing this the longest and is considered one of the best if not the best recruiting expert out there

It's Notre Dame and Tim Brewster. Ron Zook ain't far behind.

callahan actually brought in alot of talented, highly recruited players but he couldnt get them to play up to their potential

You have to question how talented the recruits were however when none of them every developed. The star QB he brought in finished his career this year as a 3rd string QB at NC state and the star RB lost his starting job early this year. That is why I take these rankings with a grain of salt especially in regards to Tom Lemming and his friends. I think his friendship with Callahan may have contributed to these busts being ranked a lot higher than they should have.

Tom Lemming, an ESPN recruiting analyst and longtime friend of Callahan, said Nebraska would be getting a "great offensive mind" if Callahan indeed is Nebraska's next coach. Lemming added that Callahan has a keen eye for talent, communicates well with young players and is a tireless worker.

"He's relentless," Lemming said. "Within two or three years, I think Nebraska will be a powerhouse offensively. Anybody who saw the Raiders in 2002, that's Callahan to a `T'."

Colorado coach Gary Barnett charged in the Denver Post that Lemming had encouraged recruits to take visits to Nebraska, where Bill Callahan is the head coach.

Lemming denies that but can't deny he and Callahan, who grew up two years apart on Chicago's South Side, are friends.

Callahan was the featured speaker last year at Lemming's annual Prep Football Banquet, and Lemming ranked Callahan's 2005 recruiting class the nation's best. (Rivals.com ranked Nebraska fifth; SuperPrep had the Cornhuskers 10th.)

hey gg,
you make numerous astute observations in your text above...
sounds like lemming is a quid pro quo kinda guy...

Regardless of how Callahan's recruiting classes turned out, Brewster's first real class last year performed fairly well on the field this year.

Question about Callahan: Did he have any prior college coaching experience before going to Nebraska? If not, I'm not sure how Lemming was able to say Callahan had a good eye for talent.

He did at the University of Wisconsin in fact and Lemming named him one of the top 20 recruiters of all time, that is why I don't take Lemming seriously especially in regards to his friends because he is clearly not able to seperate personal friendships from journalistic integrity IMO.
