I have noticed that his name has started to show up in the defensive stats each week. Does anyone have anything to say about how he is progressing?

He made two consecutive tackles, I think one for a loss and the other one on or near the LOS, in the 4th quarter. I really did not notice him until that time.

I thought he has looked pretty good and is progressing well. I noticed from my seats on at least two occasions of him just throwing the NEB offensive guard out of the way to get in the back field. I was pretty impressed. He had pretty quick hand movement on both opportunities that I witnessed. Looked good.

There was never any doubt that, if his mind and desire caught up to his body, he would be a great one, possibly the Gophers' best DL in many seasons, if not decades. There are very few people on Earth, if any, who have his combination of height, strength, and quickness. If we are starting to see those other things catch up, we could be witness to a dominant college player over the next couple seasons. At this point, it's too early to say. I will grant that he definitely showed something on several plays against Nebraska.

On the two tackles he made in the 4th he absolutely destroyed the NEB offensive lineman, and then the running back. Really great to see him out there, and since he's only a sophomore he's one player I'm really hoping helps to turn us around.

Good to see that it sounds like he's progressing. A lotta hype around this kid's athletic ability, hopefully he'll be a piece of a turnaround the next two seasons, being a guy who will solidify that interior of the line while the young DEs grow up.

He is fun to watch. Hopefully, with the experience he is getting, he will gain more confidence and just play without hesitating or thinking too much. I suspect he will start launching out of his stance when the ball is snapped next, as he progresses. A quicker, stronger and savvier DL is sort of mind boggling as he gets older and learns.

I agree that progress is being made with Hageman. The one thing you can say is that all of Coach Kill's comments about the young linemen not being big enough and strong enough don't really apply to him. Physically, he can clearly match up with almost anyone in the Big Ten. He just needs to continue to try to figure out how to play DT. Most guys at his position have been playing there all of their lives, while he has been there for just over a year. You have to think he's going to get better once he figures things out.

They really need him to step up for next year, the biggest glaring deficiencies are going to be at defensive tackle and d-backs next year. Every contributor at those positions will help.

Hageman has almost unlimited upside. As Dpo said, there aren't too many people on the planet with his combo of size/strength and athleticism. His problem, IMO, isn't desire, it's technique. He is so tall that if he doesn't get off the ball low and hard, he struggles. When he uses proper technique, he is as good as any DT that I can remember here. He is inconsistant right now, but if he can continue to take strides, he will be the best player on our team in a couple years (possibly next year).

I noticed that huge SOB in the 4th quarter too. He looks like a monster.

Just a sophomore and still learning. It appears so far this year he is taking to the coaching. Very exciting to see what he can do if he continues to develop.

Let's hope this is the year he can figure it all out and comes back a BEAST next year...

I love hearing that Rashede is doing well and that even a fan of the opponent is noticing him. Having a monster at DT would be HUGE for our team in the next couple of years, as our defense could really use an anchor.
