How are rankings going to work? I see the Big10 teams will basically keep dropping in the rankings until we start playing? Will everyone be to far behind once our games start to get a legitimate shot at the playoffs?

Yeah, it was dumb to have teams rankable who haven't started their season yet. With a year as weird as this it makes more sense IMO to say a team cannot be ranked until their season starts.

I get your concern, but won't the Big Ten and Pac 12 also have time to be making moves in late November and December when the other leagues have (mostly) finished their seasons?

The only rankings that matter are the CFP rankings. The good news is that Oklahoma and LSU already have losses and may surely accumulate more. In the end, any undefeated BIG team will surely be invited to the playoffs as long as they actually get 8-9 games in this season.

CFP rankings are the only ones that matter, and they don't start until the final month (give or take) of the season. AP and Coaches polls that are coming out now are done with different methodologies and by different people.

So what will be considered the final month give or take? Mid November? It will definitely be interesting.

Just win your conference and the rankings will follow!

Looks like Big Ten teams are back in the rankings. They all took a bit of a tumble.

11-2 Gophers are on the outside looking in.

No worries though. SEC Auburn is sitting at #7.

We're In Then!!!!

Beat Michigan we'll be top 15. Lose and we won't be ranked. Don't care until then.

WE can agree Buffoon!

If you start to look at who plays who the next two weeks, the Gophers could slid up the rankings without playing yet, making the Michigan game bigger and bigger each week. When these two meet it may be that the Gophers are ranked closer to 20 and Michigan possibly around 15. The winner then would jump several spots. Big game coming up!
