Ranking the five softest head coaches in college football

Dilfer took over the UAB Blazers because, despite being a former star, he couldn't get a bigger job.

What is this slight about?

Before UAB his coaching resume is coaching at a High School, that's it. I'd say High School to UAB is actually a pretty big jump.

This author just looking to be a dick about things?

Dilfer deserves to be on the list but yeah, that part isn't a big deal at all.
Also ... generally speaking don't we all just get the best job we can get / because we couldn't get a better one ... maybe the author too?

Such a weird thing to riff on.

I must have missed the five hardest coaches article.

OK, does anyone else think the Dabo Swinney demise is a little overblown in recent coverage? You look at recent articles and you'd think he's barely made bowl games or had losing seasons.

Since Clemson won the national title in 2018, his teams have finished 14-1, 10-2, 10-3, 11-3, 9-4, made the national championship game, went to two NY6 bowls, won three conference titles, and has been ranked in the top 20 every season. His overall record in that span is 54-13.

I get he's stubborn with the transfer portal, but he still has time to adjust considering the leash he's earned at Clemson.

I was kinda wondering the same thing...like I can't think of any former players just starting out as a P5 head coach, or heck, even a P5 coordinator.

I remember him being in the news complaining about something, so maybe the author just disagrees with him.

Loved the comment about Deion being a clown!

I think he meant in the literal sense.

Should have gone into that instead of that comment about taking a job at UAB.

He's in a perceived soft conference, so that also plays into the perception. There's no doubt he's done great there, though.

Totally agree. He just had such a high standard that anything less than 11 wins and a top 5 or so ranking pisses everyone off. Plus they are not in the SEC or B10 so they are expected to win every game they play.
