32. Rodney Smith, Minnesota

With Shannon Brooks sidelined for the 2018 season due to injury, Smith is likely to see even more opportunities than he did last fall in coach P.J. Fleck's first year. Smith just missed the 1,000-yard mark, recording 977 yards and three scores on 229 carries in 2017. In 2016, Smith led the Minnesota offense with 1,158 yards and 16 rushing scores. He's also factored into the passing game by catching 40 passes over the last two years.

Go Gophers!!

I don't even think many of them are writers. Some of their articles really read like a news mill that rewrites summaries of other articles into one new article.

All I know is that a radio station in the wasteland to the east ranks him much higher so clearly only a dink would give him such a low ranking. It's possible I'm just being a homer though.

No question Smith is the #1 RB. But, he's always worked in a tandem with other backs - Brooks, Mc Crary, etc.

I hope that the Gophers are smart with his work-load. I like Smith a lot, but I don't see him as the kind of guy who can handle 25+ carries a game plus being a pass-receiver.

In a perfect world, one of the other RB's will be capable of at least giving Smith regular breaks. If he gets over-worked, I wonder if Smith can stay healthy all season.
