Why the Ranking

I don't know that P.J. Fleck gets enough credit for the job he's done at Minnesota. Last year withstanding, Fleck has built the Gophers into a team that was contending in the West Division on an almost yearly basis at a place that that had been in a significant rut prior to his hiring. The gimmicky stuff has a ceiling though and he probably needs to coach a bigger deal program to move his career forward any further.

Is Ohio State Ryan Day really #1?

There's no way to know if he helps more than the other coaches or hurts because they're near #1 all the time.

The guy who can’t win a conference title at Ohio state is not the best coach in the conference.
Possible he is the best recruiter and organizer of NIL…

He has won two conference titles. He also has lost just 8 games in 5 seasons. Those losses are
A loss in the CFP semifinal
A loss in the national title game to one of the more dominant teams of the 21st century
A loss to a 10 win Oregon team
3 losses to Michigan teams that went to the playoff and/or won a national title (and were cheating)
A loss on a last second field goal in the CFP to the team that won the title game by 58 points.

Obviously Day has tons of built in advantages, but the idea that he has done nothing with them is just not true.

  • Schiano at 8 in front of Fleck is crazy. What has he done on the field?
  • Fickell at 7 is debatable but Madison always gets the media darling bump.
  • Moore at 4 is hilarious
  • Had to put Rhule at 10 so Nebraska fans don't lose their minds
