Who would you rather have? Eric May or Rodney Williams

Would Maverick Ahanmisi start for Winona State at PG?

What the hell's wrong with Michigan State and Illinois?

Who will be the Gophers' starting PG to open the 2011-12 season?

Will Michigan (5-7) make the NCAA Tournament? Their next game is against Indiana.

If one or the other? Rodney Williams. He is a hometown kid and I think lots of potential to improve in year 4.

Over Anthony Tucker? I doubt it. Tucker is very good. That said, Ahanmisi is not as bad as many say and I think if he sticks around for four years could improve greatly.

MSU lost Chris Allen and now Korie. I give credit to Izzo for getting rid of guys for breaking rules, but I think they miss both and are getting very frustrated with the losing.

Illinois, my best guess is coaching but no clue.

Who will be the Gophers' starting PG to open the 2011-12 season?

I believe it will be Andre Hollins.

I don't think so, no. Not many real signature wins.

Eric May. Much more polished all around. I've given up on Rodney. We can't keep saying: "Wait till next year." He's running out of years!!!

No. Ben Fischer, the Warriors' starter, is honestly better.

What the hell's wrong with Michigan State and Illinois?

Michigan State: Key role player defections.
Illinois: No clue. They have as much talent on paper as anyone in the league.

No idea.

If they finish 11-7 and win two games in the Big Ten Tournament.

Maverick has shown me way more than I expected after watching him a couple times this summer at Howard Pulley-- that being said he wouldn't start for St Thomas and I don't even know the name of their point guard and he wouldn't start at UW-River Falls- Joentae is pretty good.

I agree with everything here. After HP, I thought Mav was a disaster. After what I've seen this year, he at least isn't a disaster, though I don't have much faith in him right now. He has a chance to be a contributor at the end of four years though.

Correct.

Michigan wouldn't dance with an 11-7 big ten record

If Michigan ran the table, they would absolutely be in the Tournament. They are #52 at kenpom right now with a road win over Clemson. Running the table would put them at 21-10 (11-7) with victories over Clemson, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Northwestern (all currently top 50 at kenpom). For what it's worth (not a lot), they have also defeated Harvard and Oakland, both probable tournament teams. They would be in quite comfortably with an 11-7 BT record.

Of course, none of this is happening, so it's not really worth losing sleep over.

Why are so many people in pi$$y moods on the GopherHole?

Michigan is the one team currently behind the Gophers in the standings that I could see swooping in and getting a bid ahead of the Gophers. Michigan is improving every day, and its remaining schedule is built to make a late NCAA push.

A good way to take care of that is to beat them in the Barn as we should. They can shoot the ball however and they move well on offense.

1 - Williams.

2 - yes (eventually).

3 - too many L not enough W.

4 - Andre Hollins.

5 - too early to tell.

hmmmm

Well they certainly have some opportunities in that schedule but @ Illinois, @ Iowa, and @ Minnesota, with Wisconsin and Michigan State at home is not an easy row to hoe, IMHO.

Didn't say it would be easy for Michigan. Just said Go Blue's remaining sked was built to make a push (several opportunities for quality wins). The Gophers certainly have an easier schedule than Michigan down the stretch, but they're not as in dire need of quality wins as Michigan.

I don't know who Eric May is, but if he has a pulse, I'd take him over Rodney.

Don't know, don't care.

Don't care.

Hopefully we find a juco, otherwise it will be another long year.

No.

Who will be the Gophers' starting PG to open the 2011-12 season?

Andre Hollins may be very good but he can't play 40 miniutes and I have no confidence in Mav.(probably a good kid). Need to find another pg, probably a juco to at least share time with Andre.

Is there any chance Mav is a 'one and done' like Cobbs?

I'd just like to point out that Carleton beat St. Thomas in bball yesterday.

Look for Hollins to get 25-30 minutes PT and others (including Ahanmisi) to split 10-15 minutes as back-up PG.

Haha, I'm being serious when I say idk if Mav would start for St. Thomas. They got like a 5'4" point guard at St. Thomas and I think he's pretty good, I watched a game and he scored 20 something. He played in the backcourt with Hoff at Hopkins. And I think St. Thomas also has John Nance althought idk if Nance is a point guard.

If you don't know who Eric May is, then you don't watch Big Ten basketball.

I'm hoping we bring in Chris Colvin to take ahanmisi's minutes next year. Actually I am praying.

In all seriousness, why would you choose Williams?

In my opinion, Eric May is just about as athletic and actually posses a threat on offense that doesn't include highlight dunks. He seems a little more hard-nosed too. I'd say it's a close call, but I would obviously choose May.

So Eric May is athletic as the most athletic player in the Big Ten (according to several NBA scouts)?

Not that anyone ever respected your opinion, but how can anyone take you seriously after that? And did you really post that video as evidence? I'm not sure what was so special about that dunk other than that he's white.

In my opinion, Eric May is just about as athletic
