per Michael Rand:

If we had to guess right now: The Gophers will be a 10 seed (maybe an 11, but certainly not in the play-in game or really all that close to the bubble) if they lose to Illinois. If they beat Illinois but lose to Indiana, they will be an 8-seed. If they beat Illinois and Indiana, they will be a 7-seed. If they make it to the conference title game, they will be a 6 or 7. If they win the Big Ten tournament, they will be a 6.

Go Gophers!!

Great article. If only the rest of the Twin Cities media (cough, Sansevere) were this informative.

The chair on Sunday: "Normally, we would never allow fan's lobbying effort to influence us. But the Minnesota fans made a remarkable, unpresidented push to show us why they should not get in. In the end, we figured, what the heck, we'll give a bid to a team who's fans will be excited, since that's what it's all about."

IF the Gophers get an 8/9 seed, and our real team shows up, there could be some hell to pay at the Dance. In the meantime, let's get ready to rumble.

I thought we had no chance of getting in if we lose according to expert bracketologist Moses87.

Come on guys, Moses87 isn't always wrong. He was right once. That was when he won a coin flip in elementary school to determine who was in the field first in a game of kick ball.

PiPress: Gophers basketball: NCAA tournament a lock, experts say

Lunardi ranked the Gophers at No. 33 overall in his NCAA tournament bracket projection Wednesday. Consider, he says, what it would take for them to fall out of the NCAA tournament field.

"They'd have to drop a dozen or a dozen-and-a-half spots," he said. "And I don't think losing to Illinois is enough to do that. They're almost in better shape because they're playing Illinois, as opposed to playing Nebraska or Penn State or something like that."

"They're a 9 (seed), and if they win the whole thing, could they become a 5? Yeah," Lunardi said. "That league is so good this year that if they were to win the Big Ten tournament, I could see them being (as high as a) 4. But again, that requires the committee having a bracket in place with them winning the Big Ten championship game a half hour before they go on the air. And history would suggest it doesn't happen that way."

Go Gophers!!

It would be nice if we got some wins in the conference tourney so that we can earn one of those higher seeds.

I'll take 4/5/6/11/12/13 ... Try to avoid the 1 and 2 seeds as long as possible. 6 or 11 would be ideal. So um... lose, or go to the BT championship and lose, I suppose.
