Looks like Jay Johnson got out just in time.

The Committee on Infractions ruled in January that a former assistant coach had in fact participated in falsifying ACT scores for five different players. Because those players were ineligible, the school now has to vacate any of the victories involving the five student-athletes.

In total, Louisiana vacated 22 combined wins: eight from 2011, four from 2012, eight from 2013 and two from 2014. The program also loses 2011 New Orleans Bowl and 2013 New Orleans Bowl victories as well as the 2013 Sun Belt title.

"Since Coach [Mark] Hudspeth's arrival in 2011, the football staff and student-athletes have shown their dedication to winning through their hard work and indomitable spirit," athletic director Scott Farmer said Thursday. "Although games were vacated due to the actions of one person, our fans, student-athletes and coaches will remember the excitement and pride they felt. We appreciate all of our fans' support and together we will fight on."

Is Johnson the accused former assistant? I didn't see his name in the article.

I'm guessing the NCAA will drop the hammer on the Cajuns kinda like what they did to NC.

David Saunders, former linebackers coach.

And no one else knew? The LB coach did it on his own?

If I was a skeptical person I would say "this is why he got out" before I would say "he got out just in time".

Can I get my money back in Vegas for those New Orleans bowl vacates?

I thought it takes a two or three year NCAA investigation before any sanctions can happen. Isn't that dpodoll's take on the timeline?

That was a little tongue in cheek but I can see the hand wringing here if the school gets hit with penalties in short order.

TFW you post something snarky about someone only to find out the other person is right and you're wrong:

http://theadvocate.com/sports/ullaf...a-accuses-louisiana-lafayette-former-football

"These allegations came to light in December 2013, beginning a lengthy investigation by the NCAA, outside counsel for Louisiana-Lafayette and counsel for Ole Miss, where Saunders previously coached."

'The university’s response to the allegations paints a different picture. On Oct. 2, 2014, the university requested Saunders “to provide a release to ACT to disclose any payment records bearing his name for the student-athletes identified in the case.”'
