Quote of the Year goes to Adam Weber and speaks volumes about the type of crap he has had to put up with while playing for Brew

"Losing," Weber said, "is getting old."

It's the same type of crap we've put up with for most of our lives. That said, Adam threw an absolutely unbelievably terrible pass at the end of the 2nd quarter that resulted in an interception.

Last 3 Qbs at the U:

Adam-15-26 record

Brian Cupito 20-17, won a bowl game

Asad Abdul-Khaliq 28-21 won 2 bowl games.

Say what you will about BC and AAK but at least they left college with a winning record and some good memories, sadly Adam will have almost none.

Which meant absolutely nothing as Theret got it right back 2 plays later....

Theret making a great defensive play doesn't excuse a 5th year senior qb with 4 years experience from making an awful throw. I have the same sort of quote. "I'm tired of losing with Weber"

I frankly think you just like to whine. You would frankly probably say 'I'm tired of losing with Gray" if he played.

This game is not on Weber.....as much as a small bad if vigilantes would like to say it is....

I'd say I was tired of losing with Gray if he too had 26 losses in 3+ years to his name...

I'm guessing you would probably say it after one game....you don't exactly come off as the patient rational type...

And I'm sure all 26 of those losses is on Weber too...not a crappy defense, non-existent running game or awful special teams.....nope...all on Weber's shoulders.

THIS.

I agree. Adam Weber makes many good throws, but then he is usually good for a ridiculous play or two. That pass today had zero chance of success and he should've known that. Poor Adam, he just doesn't have the poise, calmness, confidence, etc. to lead a team to victory over a really good opponent. Not his fault, just his makeup. He just doesn't exude confidence or have a "hop-on-my back-and-I'll-lead-you-to-victory" persona. Even if he had a better supporting cast, I don't think this fine young man could get it done. Now, the South Dakota kid, I'd put my money on him.

Matt Barkley's INT to Manuel was a horrible, ridiculous play...I suppose you wouldn't want him even though he makes many good throws? It's tough to show what you've got when your OC refuses to throw on 1st and 2nd down, and even then we'd have a 3rd and very long and he made some clutch throws. He's good, not great, but he's the least of our problems.

I finally got frustrated with Weber too

he does make great throws each and every game but also seems to throw the ill timed picks and fumbles - In addition, he also has a tendency to just plain miss his receivers - giving away key third down conversioin opportunities and sometimes taking a sack too quickly when there is pressure - granted he may not have the O-line and receivers (sans Decker) for a more consistent performance but for the team to improve over where they are we need more consisten play out of the quarterback position.

per the Pioneer Press blog--Adam Weber was 10/21 for 145 yds 1 td and 2 int's before the drive against USC's reserves (which, as you recall, Gray was also able to accomplish against OSU's scrubs last year). The conservative game plan looks a lot better if he even bumps that up to 15/21 to get some first downs.

If losing is getting old, stop staring down receivers, and make a play. Other than the TD toss--which was really nice on both the throw and catch--were there any throws that you really think Gray/Alipate/Anyone else can't make as well? Most of his yards came on the underneath crossing throw to Gray and a long run after the catch. The kickoff return isn't the end of the game if we don't come out and go three and out right away with a craptastic 3rd down throw again.

In addition with Gray, you probably add 7 rushes for 50 yds and TD on to that stat line (perhaps one less int and one more fumble). It's a pointless exercise to think about it, as it will never happen unless we get an 0/21 performance against NIU, but I just can't wait for a change at QB, coach, or both. Trying the same thing and expecting different results is what is "getting old" for me. </rant>

Weber is just not good...& if our other QB's are worse then him then Brewster sucks as either a recruiter or a coach, the choice is yours...

How many all-big ten linemen did those guys have? all-big ten running backs?

compare those numbers to the Weber years.

Isn't it the job of the staff to "coach" these linemen into being good? Didn't Brew & Co. recruit some linemen?

Weber has undoubtedly had a career filled with some bad luck at the U.

Remember, he was recruited by Mason to quarterback Mason & Browning's
offense. That offense is perfect for a young qb to be groomed steadily and not to put too much pressure on him while he's learning the college game.

Weber would have excelled in that offense, had Mason remained, and his four-year
career would have an entirely different look to it.

Instead, he was placed in one fire drill after another, his development went thru
all sort of flux, and he's doing his best to salvage what he can of this season.

I remember when he was a redshirt freshman, learning the system behind Cupito.
I remember how excited the coaches were that he would be eligible the next season
for varsity ball. He would have done well, very well.

I thought we were talking about Weber? Someone brings up a good point that the other 2 QBs had a great running game around them and you just write another "Brewster sucks" post.

I like Theret, but saying that was a great defensive play is completely absurd. Wow, I could have stood on the field and caught a ball thrown right into my chest too.

Gophers lose...I know, let's blame Weber even though he had a very solid game.
