After a flurry of information that most people to believe to be either false, a smokescreen or negotiating tactics, the flow of rumors has been shut off for the past 24 hours or so.

Don't know what to read into it other than it is quite curious.

I think the U has had their guy in mind for a while.

There are 40 schools playing this weekend and next, including Connecticut, No. Illinois, Arizona, Oregon State, Boise, and Navy. For all we know, the real guy is coaching one of these 40 teams.

The coach could also be awaiting his current team's bowl bid before resigning. He may realize his resignation could affect the bid.

There are many factors that get missed on this board by the "hurriers, " including a coach's personal needs (like his current job) that need resolution.

I think we'll know by Monday...

I think the article in the Strib today should how crazy everyone is about this and people are relaxing a bit. What do we believe. Agents and Coaches have interests and motives to leak info. Maturi is not saying a word. We can make better judgements once an announcement is made.

Unless it's Hoke, then we probably won't know for 2 weeks and several 'holers will have nervous breakdowns waiting that long. Possibly me.

There is a good chance that the U does have their guy ready and are doing some last minute interviews this week. After they get those out of the way they may be ready to name the coach.

Very true... Horton was promised an interview as I recall and hasn't gotten one as of yet. Tying up loose ends and whatnot.

Since the search has been going on for more than a month now, there was an expectation that the hire would come sooner rather than later. Especially with all the rumors flying around over the weekend that they have there man, etc. I don't know if they do or not, but I think a more likely scenario may be there are several candidates who can have the job if they want and negotiations are ongoing. If I'm keeping track correctly, in the past few days the #1 candidate has at one time or another been Brady Hoke, Randy Edsall, Al Golden and Dan Mullen. People know we're willing to spend to get a good coach, so there's some gamesmanship going on right now by agents to get the best deal for their clients. I'm doing my darnedest to not get too worked up about it.
