I am filling out our season parking pass application today and was curious if all of the construction by TCF Bank Stadium will dramatically change the flow of traffic after hoops games? The past number of years we have parked in the University Ramp right across the street from The Barn. For the most part, it wasn't too bad getting out of there and on to the 94W.

But with the construction by Chipolte and Brugger's, will that be close to being done by hoops season and/or will it impact traffic in that area? I haven't been on campus for a while so I am not sure how that is all playing out.

Would it be better to avoid this area and opt to park at C58? For those that have parked there in the past, how is the flow of traffic coming out of that lot after games?

Thanks.

assuming you are physically able, park at the east (or is it west) river road ramp and enjoy a stroll through (or under and over) campus. It is about a 10 minute walk, and the parking is cheaper too!

As someone who works at the U and right on Washington Ave, be prepared for significant event traffic issues this fall. Washington Avenue between the bridge and Union ST is closed to car traffic FOREVER. It will not be open to automobile traffic this fall and once light rail service commences, it will be a transit and pedestrian mall from the Wash Ave bridge to the Radisson. That means that 4th ST and University Ave through dinkytown and Huron/94 will be the main ways in and out of campus. It's manageable but expect 2011-12 to be an adjustment year both for the U and the students as well as fans.

University and 4th were a mess for the first couple weeks that Washington was closed and that was late May and early June after classes were done for spring with minimal events on campus. The Wash. Ave ramp is accessible by coming through campus from University/4th via 17th (with some meandering and curving, but it's pretty easy). If you park in the E River Rd ramp you'll have to come up east river road to get back to University/4th or head east toward Huron/94.
