Do you have a rough idea of when the B1G will announce its conference schedule? I see the ACC, Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC all have announced their schedules.

Thanks in advance.

The league's coaches received the conference skeds Monday. Should be public soon. Don't have an exact day yet.

What happens is that a third-party prepares the schedule and sends it off. Then, the bickering begins: television issues here, complaints about too many home games in January there, etc. It's not uncommon for the schedule to go through several iterations before being finalized, which often takes more time than perhaps it should.

Hopefully the Gophers don't start off by being thrown in the gauntlet again this season.

The B1G opener I don't want: @ MSU, @ Bucky or OSU at The Barn

Thanks Myron. ...

Agree GW.

After posting what should be a very good nonconference record (absolute worst of 11-2) with all the home games + a weak Old Spice field, the last thing I want is for the Gophers to open at Michigan State (haven't won at Breslin since '97) or Wisconsin, or with Ohio State at The Barn. My preference would be Iowa or Nebraska at home to start the B1G slate. Don't want any momentum generated by the Gophers in November-December immediately halted by potentially getting thrashed in their opener.

Wouldn't consider either the Hawkeyes or 'Huskers a gimme', but let's be honest, those are likely to be the most "winnable" home games on our schedule. I'd rather play them early -- especially Nebraska -- before they start figuring things out.

Opening at Kohl or Breslin

Assuming the Big 10 opener will be in late December, I'd take opening at Kohl or Breslin in a heartbeat. It didn't work out for the Gophers last year, but I think the best chance to beat either Bucky or Sparty in their house is early and when their student body is on holiday break.

I beilieve Tubby said.........

we are opening at Illinois on Dec. 27. He was on the radio today.

I thought he said at Illinois and at Michigan for the first two games (both on road).

I'd much rather play Illinois without the Orange Krush than with them :)

Strange, post a question for Myron and magically he appears.

Seriously? We are worrying about if the teams are going to have a full student section when we play them? Man the f up.

If indeed it's @ Illinois and @ Michigan to start the B1G season, that's 3 straight seasons we've opened with a pair of road games.

2009-10 -- @ Iowa (W), @ Purdue (L)
2010-11 -- @ Wisconsin (L), @ Michigan State (L)

Bottom line is it will come down to what it always does. ... are the Gophers tough enough to win on the road? We'll certainly need to win some road games if we play like we did at Williams (crappy) last season.

Nebraska's first 6 B1G games

Nebraska reportedly opens with 6 straight games vs. teams that made the NCAA tourney last season. Obviously, that would mean the Gophers won't see the Cornhuskers until at the earliest mid-January.

From Shama:

"The Big Ten basketball schedule will be announced this week or next. The Gophers one time opponents next year will be Ohio State and Purdue at home, Michigan and Penn State on the road."

Go Gophers!!

In the past 5-10 years, this is the first time I can remember where the B1G is the last major conference to officially release its conference schedule. The ACC, Big East, Big 12, Pac 12 and SEC all have released their schedules.

Hell, SS, the Big 10 released the baseball schedule yesterday. Still no basketball schedule.

Word from the State Fair ticket reps is that the TV people have thier hands on the schedule and we won't see it until they have given their approval to the schedule. What is the definition selling one's soul?
