per the Quad City Times:

3. Minnesota coach Jerry Kill said Tuesday he isn’t surprised by the progress the Hawkeye defense has made from one week to the next this season.

“If you follow Iowa football in the past, they are a football team that always gets better,’’ Kill said. “Everybody says things and then all of a sudden they keep moving forward. I think that’s the nature of who they are and the job coach does.’’

4. At 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten, Iowa sits at the top of the West Division standings with other one-loss teams Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Coach Kirk Ferentz would have preferred a different situation.

“I wish we were undefeated,’’ Ferentz said. “We set out the season to try to win every game, just like every team in our conference. But, we’re not. So, the reality is that we’re a 6-2 ball club and we’re not looking much further than Saturday.’’
