So after Philip Nelson puts up probably the best game of his career, do you think he is our "quarterback" next week? Or do we continue to not name a starter and go with the hot hand. I think we should continue to do what has been working by going with the hot hand. Leidner has had his good moments the past few games as well. Nelson may be playing the best football in his career now, but I think we need to be prepared to bring in Leidner on a short leash. Thoughts?

QB controversy should be over. This is Nelson's team and the Gophers have a very capable backup in Leidner

Nelson should start but I'm still not against Letting Leidner play some.

Not sure what they will announce, but PSU will prepare to see a 90/10 split of Nelson and Leidner. They will probably wait on injury news anyway. It's pretty obvious Nelson stirs the drink for this team right now.

Let's hope Nelson is 100%. Looks like he may have gotten a bit of treatment in the locker room. Probably going to be hobbling around.

Nelson was a stud today. I love the 2-headed attack and I think we should throw Leidner in for a series or two to mix things up (as long as he can hold onto the ball!!!)

Career game for Phil.

Keep Mitch in the mix, definitely.

He's put points on the board the last two weeks.

Yeah, career game in 15 games. I figure in the next 33 games he will have several more.

Nelson started out a bit slow. He didn't hit his full stride in today's game until Leidner got some reps. I really think he may subconsciously feed off that. The 80/20 ratio sounds about right. I would even have no problem if Leidner got the start and Nelson came in 2nd series.

I just hope Nelson wasn't able to come back in the game based on adrenaline and that he will still be healthy for PSU after sleeping it off. Whatever hit he took could swell up and cause some real discomfort in his throwing motion. We'll see. I hope he's ready to roll, but Mitch needs to be ready.

Nelson has a Hip Pointer. He had a shot in the locker room but it is only provides temporary relief.
Does anybody know about this type of injury?

I just think this whole "quarterback controversy" can only help both of them in the long run. I think we have seen Nelson improve tremendously in the past few games. Good decisions and he has for the most part been making the easy throws that we usually have trouble with.

I really don't mind both playing. Heck, things are working why not keep it up? The only issue we don't have a reliable third string QB. Streveler is still out I thought. Rhoda looked good in the spring game how is he in practice? I bring this up since we are an injury away from needed another reliable backup.

Hip pointers are a painful injury, like a bruise on the pelvic bone, and take time to heal. Philip is going to hurt all week when he laughs, coughs, walks or even breathes. I doubt if he gets any pain shots, which only last a couple hours max, so I bet he's limited, if he practices at all this week. I do think he's earned the job, but I wont be surprised if Mitch starts and plays the whole game this week. Better get the next man up, since our QBs will take some hits. Might just see our third-string QB on the field next Saturday...

Had a bunch of hip pointers. It's a bruise at the top of your hip bone. The muscle around the hip then swells up pretty good, bad ones get black and blue. Painful as all get up! It just takes time to heal, the worse it is the longer it takes. Had the shots also. Amazing how good you temporarily feel. Nelson is a tough kid, he'll be fine.

I would say he plays if he can. With Mitch getting some reps. The bye week will help him for the stretch run.
