There have been 20 QB transfers just since the end of last season. Nelson is NOT discussed in the article, so bypass it if you're looking for Mandel's opinion on his transfer.

"That prevailing impatience among young quarterbacks coupled with more upperclassmen taking advantage of the NCAA's graduate transfer waiver (for example, former Wisconsin one-year wonder Russell Wilson) has turned college football's quarterback carousel into a virtual waiver wire. More than 20 quarterbacks have already transferred out of or into a BCS-conference program since the end of the season, and there will presumably be another round after depth charts come into focus in upcoming spring practices..

texas tech had 3 transfer.. and the sky is falling here over nelson....

Thanks for the information. Not surprising.

Would be interesting to know how many of those guys were in a similar situation to Nelson where they would have had a legit shot at being the starter in 2014 for their old squad. My guess is that the majority of those guys are stuck behind an established starter but I'm too lazy to dig into each teams depth chart to find out so hoping someone else will do it :)

Another factor could be a coaching change and subsequent change to a new offense.
