Gophers just added more arsenal to their defense with this hard hitting safety who's transferring from Kent State-he'll have 3 years of eligibility left

From 247 Sports
Kent State transfer target Troy Dipre visited the University of Minnesota this last weekend and was able to attend the Gophers Spring Game. Just days later he announced he's made a decision for his next stop and will be a Golden Gopher.

While a LB recruit coming out of St. Edward's in Ohio and a LB with Kent State last fall, Dipre projects as a guy that can add further depth for the Gophers secondary as a Safety.

Since Dipre played last fall as a Freshman, he'll have to sit this season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. He was ranked a 2-star prospect coming out of high school with a grading of 0.7914 on 247Sports Composite.

Walk-on? Nice!

Looks like offers from Kent State (obviously), Air Force, Buffalo, Toledo, USF, and Eastern Michigan out of HS. Nice offer list for guy who's a PWO

according to the game statistics, he did play and made one tackle adding one assist as well

Defense and staff has quickly built a reputation. Kid dropped a scholarship to come play for Claeys and Sawvel.

Pretty amazing when you think about it that way. I am curious about the switch from LB to safety. It seems like usually players go from safety to LB but not the other way around.

Big enough to play LB in the MAC vs big enough to play LB in the B1G.
