I'd really love to see Purdue give Tenn a thorough spanking tonight.

Two very different styles of basketball. Should be a pretty good game.

It's on FSN

It's on FSN at 7:30 tonight. 3rd-place game Saint Joseph's (future Gopher opponent) vs. DePaul will be on as well.

FSN has it listed for tonight at 7:00

I'm looking forward to this one as well.

Also looking forward to this one. I've been a big Bruce Pearl guy since his days as UW-Milwaukee coach, and enjoyed following his career. I would have loved Minnesota to have hired him before he jetted off to Volunteer country (year before we hired Tubby). Love his teams' style of play.

If he and Brewster were here at the same time, we'd be hard pressed to figure out who was the bigger cheerleader for their respective programs. Pearl just constantly works to promote his teams in all ways possible.

Of course, I'm extremely happy with the Tubby Smith hire, and wouldn't have it any other way.

Great game! Did anyone see Chris Kramer dive and then swim 10 yards to get the steal? I've never seen anything like that.

You're right, fantastic game, and that play was the play of the game

Anyone who didn't watch this game tonight missed out, regardless of who wins. Neither team has had a lead greater than 6 points the whole game.

And Purdue pulls off the 1-point win over the 9th ranked Tennessee, big win for them and the Big 10!

Good to know that this Purdue team can pull out a close game. All around a hell of a game. Ref's needed to learn to not blow the wistle so much though

What a great game.

For once I was actually impressed with Tennessee. Tennessee has a lot of talent but whenever I've watched them very little discipline. They always want to play street ball.

Fun to watch.

Whale of a game

You could tell right away what kind of game it was going to be. That was high-level basketball. Both teams went at it hard but clean. As the announcer said, the game had a March feel to it.

Best game of the year so far, even surpassing the MSU-Gonzaga game. Both teams have a lot to feel good about.

Yes

That play was one of the most remarkable defensive plays I've ever seen ... His speed actually seemed to increase as he was swimming down the floor.

Once again, lack of discipline cost Tenn the game ... Poor shot selection, with too many turnovers. I like the freshman for Purdue (Barlow) .. It was a fun game to watch (even though it wasn't in HD) but IMO either Mich St or Gonzaga would have handled these teams. I think Purdue is soft and could use a banger... Jajuan Johnson plays away from the basket too much. Where was Lewis Jackson? E'Twaun Moore is smooth and was their go-to-guy last night and came through in a big way.

LewJack (nickname) has a serious foot injury and won't be able to play for a while.

Where was Lewis Jackson?

He was hurt a week or so ago. From what I remembered reading about it he'll be out for a while.

Jackson

Announcers can be wrong quite often, but on the telecast last night they said Jackson's probably out for the season. Barlow will be the guy that has to step up. Sounds like Painter had planned on redshirting Barlow, but obviously not now. Barlow looks like he can play.

Bruce Pearl is nothing other than a cheerleader. Just like Calamari, he gets very good players but doesn't know what to do with them.

Barlow is F. LewJack is PG.

Barlow is getting minutes that would go to another injured Boiler (Sandi Marcius) who plays F.

LewJack's minutes are going to seniors Keaton Grant and walk-on Mark Wohlford.

Tennessee blew this game. They had had two posessions down one with under a minute. The first one they jacked up a three in transition (horrible decision) and the last one they had a wide open look from the top of the key that missed badly. Purdue got a little lucky but they did play great D and survived on a night when Hummel's shot wasn't fouling and Jajuan Johnson fouled out with 3+ mins to go. I agree with others, good victory for the BT.

Barlow

Actually, Barlow is listed as a guard/forward on Purdue's roster & he certainly was helping bring the ball up court last night, though not to the extent of Keaton, Kramer & Hummel.

Thanks for clarifying that "LewJack" is a PG. I wasn't aware of that. Can I use that nickname when referencing him from now on, or does he only let his "friends" call him that?

Regardless how Barlow is listed, he's NOT a PG.

Jackson is 5-9 on a good day. Most can see he's a PG.

Thanks

for the info on "JackLew" (as I like to call him) What has happended to Grant? Thought he was more of a scorer like Moore ....

Since Grant 2nd year he has been a slump. Mainly on he 3 point shoting. He never has been or will a be a scorer like Moore. Meaning he can't put the ball and take it to the hoop like Moore. That said if Grant can get his shot going he is a very vaulable asset to this team. His defence is very underrated(I think because Kramer's is so good), can handle the ball and can get Purdue into it's halfcourt game. Purdue needs him atleast be a legimate scoring threat, meaning knocking down open jumpers, simply because when Kramer is out there he can't/doesn't do that.

And Barlow playes the point forward. He has a good handle on the ball, take it to the hoop, shot, rebound, and has potenial to be a lockdown defender. I really see him in that Evan Turner mold in a few years.

Yeah I've always liked this Purdue team .. nice players, if they just had a stud power forward, I'd give them the nod for the BT Title. Still thinking they will be the second best BT team (Mich St - 1st) then a real crap-shoot between the Gophers, Ill, Mich, Ohio St & possibly Bucky for 3rd and 4th...

Actually, Barlow is mostly getting LewJack's minutes. Barlow is definitely more of a traditional forward, but Matt Painter has said that Barlow is capable of playing PG, SG, and SF.

I wouldn't say Grant is getting LewJack's minutes, because he would be getting 15-20 minutes a game whether Lewis is playing or not. Ryne Smith is probably getting a few more minutes than he would be getting if LewJack wasn't hurt, and Wohlford probably wouldn't be playing much at all if he weren't hurt.
