I think OSU really exposed a glaring weakness for the Boilers. They are not athletic enough to play an up and down the court game. Too bad, we lost our little catalyst in Nolen. I shudder to think of Maverick pushing the ball because he's turnover prone.

Despite last night's devastating loss, I came away thinking Painter must have done a masterful job to keep that team near the top 10 all season with just 2 legitimate scorers...And Moore has really cooled off in Big 10 play.

Devastating is just about the most inaccurate word I could think of to describe a road loss to the #1 team.

Focusing on the extremes never works in this sport. Four days ago, Purdue looked unbeatable. The truth lies somewhere in between.

That was embarrassing. It's tough to beat a team (much less the #1 team in the country) that shoots better from behind the arc than they do from the free throw line. I didn't expect a win but I didn't expect to be run out of the gym before the game was even on - after the Georgia/Florida double OT affair.

At the end of the day it's just one game. #10 Syracuse loses by 22 at home to an unranked Seton Hall squad last night and it's getting swept under the rug. Is the mighty Syracuse beatable after dropping 3 in a row after getting up to #3 in the polls?

Northwestern got beat by 30+ at home the other day by Wisconsin yet there are plenty of folks that think they will beat the Gophers tonight at the Barn. Go figure.

If I were a Boiler fan, I'd be miffed at Moore, Barlow and Ryne Smith. They failed to contest many of those threes and at the other end, they were a combined 6 for 20 from the floor. Moore can't seem to score against players over 6-4.

The Gophers will crush NW. They are totally reliant on threes and their backdoor stuff won't work among the giants at Williams.

News flash: A team that's lost 3 of its last 5, and barely won 1 of the others, looks beatable.

Purdue at a glance:
Against the top 50 RPI: 2-2
For a team that has spent the entire season in the top 25, they have only beaten one team in the top 25, MSU. That isn't looking so good these days.
With the exception of 3 games with Indiana and Iowa, the balance of their schedule will be against RPI top 30. Surely we will see what they are made of by the end of the Big 10 season. Maybe Sweet 16 at best here! I predict one win and then done.

There's no newsflash here. Robbie Hummel is a great player, and with him Purdue was a great team. Without him they are one of a handful of good teams in the Big Ten. They'll win most of their games at home, and are unlikely to beat many good teams on the road. Just like us after the Walker injury and Joseph transfer (though now with Nolen going down, we're probably not even at that level).
