tWe all know what kind of pressure that Purdue puts on the ball; it rattled West Virginia to their core this weekend. They also overplay passing lanes like nobody's business. Too many teams have gotten caught up in extending themselves to nearly half court or touching the sidelines when starting their offense; it throws the timing of the offense off, puts people in positions with the ball they aren't used to, etc. What should an offense do to combat this extreme aggressiveness?
BACKDOOR CUTS.
We had a number of backdoor cuts in the Iowa game for layups, but we're going to see a level of intensity we haven't yet seen this year against Purdue. In order keep the defense honest on Tuesday, we're going to have to run a number of backdoor cuts. I know it's a very simple thing, but getting beat 2-3 times on a backdoor cut will make a defender think twice about denying the pass 25-27 ft from the basket, and will allow us more space to run the offense.
