there are a few threads re: tonight's game and many of the score predictions are Purdue winning it easily (by 10-15 seems to be the differential I saw the most). despite being a road game for the Boilers, we must not appear to be a great challenge for Purdue because their fans sure are confident. I like Purdue, but man I would love to remind those fans that the road is a tough place regardless of how the match-up reads on paper.

I wish the Gophs could hear how easily dismissed they are by the opposing fans...it might rile them up a little!

Go Gophers!!

Because Rivals boards are clearly the place to find rational, intelligent discussion. :banghead:

The fanbase is probably a little overconfident following the road wins of the last two weeks and the emergence of Smith.

Then do it.:cool02:

Oh no! A fanbase thinking they're going to win a game. Stop the press!

LMAO. It's no different on this board.

The only Big Ten team that I think fans could "expect" their team to lose to is OSU, and even they are starting to look beatable. That's the way it goes with being a fan, they expect their team to win (considering they are a decent team) no matter who they play.

But fans of Wisconsin, OSU, MSU, Purdue, Illiniois, Minnesota and possibly even add now Indiana, PSU, and Michigan will probably never pick their team to lose

no, you're right. I think it is the score differential that interested me...its like despite being a road game against a still technically ranked (barely, in one poll, undeservedly, lol), there is not even a reason for some of them to be concerned. being concerned about this game would be thinking you'll eek it out in the last few minutes, or make some critical FTs down the stretch, or finally pull away at the very end of the second half. not blowing us out in a road game.

it is just interesting to me that we are so mild and unscary, that opponents (even ones that are playing really really well right now) don't think twice about playing us on the road. my comments were more an indictment of our team's appearance to opponents, than a criticism of Purdue fans.

Well, to be honest, Minnesota is an afterthough for the most part among the casual Purdue fans. In fact, a lot of them refer to Minnesota as "Minnehaha" not knowing anything about the significance of that name in this area. Not saying I agree - just simply passing along a general observation. More beatdowns like last year in the BTT would probably change their tune a bit but Gopher Bball and football aren't taken seriously down there.

Unfortunatley, we really aren't taken seriously anywhere.

I would like to see them bring back the "Respect" warm ups

Ah Purdue, where the men are men and so are the women.

For the record I don't have a gut feeling about tonights game.

Huh? People all over this board expected us to start 1-3 or maybe 2-2.

Why are Purdue fans so cocky? In big 10 play they have played @Michigan, vs Northwestern, @Penn St, and vs Iowa. Hardly a difficult schedule when you look at ours: @Wisconsin, @Michigan St, vs Indiana, @Ohio St.

I like us at home in this game.

I know you're relaying info, but Purdue fans can't seriously talk about not taking any football team seriously.

No win comes easy these days. OSU would have been upset if it wasn't for that stupid call last night. I hope that the calls come this way tonight. I am tired of seeing these game-changer stupid calls like the one that we got in Columbus.

Go Gophers

Why wouldn't they be confident? Purdue has been strolling along through the Big Ten so far and the Gophers can only seem to play well for half of a game. They don't have any signature wins yet. Throw in the Gophers' inability to blowout most of the weaker competition they play so far this year...

Because of Purdue's stifling defense I think the Gophers actually have a better shot at upsetting MSU, OSU, and Illinois at Williams.

Come on, Gophers! Prove me wrong! :)

I'm just betting on the fact that we out-rebound them on the defensive end, and push the ball with quick outlet passes, leading to either open shots for Blake, or layups from Rodney/Trevor. Push the ball before Purdue gets it D set. We also likely will have more FT opportunities, and we have to make them. My two keys to a win tonight.

Correction: Title of thread should read: Purdue fans think the Boilermakers will beat the Gophers easily."You" or "we" are not part of the team. You sound like a crazy packers fan with this "us" and "we" nonsense."They" play the game."You" watch it.

Purdue fans need to rethink things. Great win for the Gophers!!! Hustle plays, big shots, good defense.

Purdue has one player. After he is gone they will be an average BB team even with JH.

I don't know what a JH is, but I'm not sure you quite know what you're talking about. Saying a team with two preseason All Big Ten players has one player is quite curious.

Terone was good tonight. LewJack is really coming into his own. Barlow will get there. Carroll is going to be a good player.

WE are part of the team. That's why its a homecourt advantage

They're in uber-meltdown mode right now over on Rivals. Kinda funny. It's the freakin Big Ten, you're gonna lose road games against the top half of the conference.

1:40 into a fantastic, nail-biting game and this is what you post?

We played great. Face it. We beat the #8 team in the country in a game we had to have. I'm so happy for us. If we beat Iowa, we are at .500 and we are right in the thick of things and hopefully that will lead to us going to the NCAA tournament, where I hope we do well.
