Figured he'd get a call somewhere. Very good coach.

Shocked. No indication this was coming. #yawn

i feel bad for Penn State, i wonder if Hackenburg or their 4 star QB in their 2014 class will transfer/decommit

O'Brien reportedly just told one of their top recruits that he was not leaving. Gotta love lying coaches.

The coaching carousel is starting to wind up, Bill O'Brien is reported as going to the Texans and it appears that the Texas AD, is making inquiries at Louisville. Between the coaching carousel and recruiting we should have some things to talk about.

I expect a Penn State Greg Schiano hiring in short order.

Or Munchak, who hasn't been let go yet by the Titans, but is a PSU guy. He's kind of twisting in the wind in Tennessee right now and might jump at the chance to go back to his alma mater. Problem is I don't know if anyone who is tied to the Paterno era in any way will be considered.

Schiano would be a pretty good choice to them.

Maybe Penn State's chili is hot? Maybe they're hungry? Are they starvin'?

O'Brien said about firing Coach Vanderlinden:

“You can print this: You can print that I don’t really give a ---- what the ‘Paterno people’ think about what I do with this program. I’ve done everything I can to show respect to Coach Paterno. Everything in my power. So I could really care less about what the Paterno faction of people, or whatever you call them, think about what I do with the program. I’m tired of it.

“For any ‘Paterno person’ to have any objection to what I’m doing, it makes me wanna put my fist through this windshield right now.”

Penn State is whole 'nother animal in the coaching world. Bill O'Brien was too "outside" for them. Makes me think someone with ties to the program is a lock to be hired.

Could point to Munchak.

I am blown away that Hackenburg still chose to honor his initial commitment. If you can only play college ball for ~4 years, why play for a school with such a black cloud and one that is not bowl eligible?

Can someone please explain to me why O'Brien is such a desirable candidate? He has had two decent years as a college head coach. He has some NFL experience, but it's not like the Belichick coaching tree has lit up the NFL.

I will freely admit that I know very little about the guy. But it's just that his resume doesn't seem that impressive to me. I guess I'm just confused as to why so many Texans fans are losing their minds over this hire.

This gives some insight as to why he was hired.
