Could see all 5 of the remaining Big Ten games going either way, but here's a final projected Big Ten Tournament bracket. This assumes. ...

Illinois over Wisconsin
Michigan State over Michigan
Minnesota over Iowa
Northwestern over Indiana
Penn State over Purdue

Thursday, March 11 (1st Round)
#8 Michigan (7-11) vs. #9 Iowa (4-14), 1:30 p.m. (ESPN2)
#7 Northwestern (8-10) vs. #10 Penn State (4-14), 3:55 p.m. (ESPN2)
#6 GOPHERS (9-9) vs. #11 Indiana (3-15), 6:30 p.m. (BTN)

Friday, March 12 (Quarterfinals)
#1 Ohio State (14-4) vs. Michigan/Iowa winner, 11 a.m. (ESPN)
#4 Wisconsin (12-6) vs. #5 Illinois (11-7), 1:25 p.m. (ESPN)
#2 Michigan State (14-4) vs. Northwestern/Penn State winner, 6:30 p.m. (BTN)
#3 Purdue (13-5) vs. GOPHERS/Indiana winner, 8:55 p.m. (BTN)

Absolutely. Purdue's still an unknown without Hummel, and Penn State has played a lot of good basketball down the stretch. All we really know about Purdue (in entire games without Hummel) is that they can beat a really crappy Indiana team. I don't think Penn State is a crappy team.

I'll look forward to watching that game but I'm tellin' ya right now I would much rather play Penn State in the BTT. My reasoning is that yes, Penn State is playing much better basketball and the Gophers KNOW they will have to show up for that game. Considering the way they played Michigan and Indiana this year, assuming if I'm correct and they thought they could walk into the game and walk out with a win, I'd much rather have the Gophers show up and know they have a fight on their hands rather than thinking they can show up and destroy Indiana like they did last time.

I'd take it

I am not predicting a cakewalk into Sunday, but given where things sit today that draw gives the Gophers about the best chance they could hope to have.

I think that one will go the other way too, but it shouldn't change the bracket.

I'd hope the fact that they already lost to Indiana once would thouroughly prevent such a thing. It's also awfully hard to get up for hard-fought games 3 days in a row, and right now PSU is playing as well as anyone not in the top 4. Therefore, I really do hope they beat Purdue on Sunday and get out of the 11 spot. If not, we will be in a dogfight from the first tip.

Not me. Penn State is the last team I would want to play in the first round. No wait... Michigan is the last team I would want to play but Penn State really scares me.

Not to rehash the Michigan debacle but I think the worst thing that happened to us, aside from getting completely outplayed and embarrassed, was getting ahead in the first few minutes. Just like when we played at Indiana and they were completely taken by surprise in the first half. We thought we could waltz in there and take our win and fly back home. Maybe it just frustrates me that you never know which team is going to show up sometimes with these guys. Battle will get his points but I think Penn State will be overmatched inside with us if we go big with Iverson and Sampson.

so... if Purdue beats Penn St. will OSU still be the 1 seed?

Thank God

Thank God Michigan is on the other side of the bracket:)

As a side note maybe the NCAA should give the NIT Champ from previous year (Penn St) an automatic bid to the NCAA the following year. NCAA IIRC now owns the NIT. This might give the NIT a little more meaning. Penn St might be a good addition this year -- and maybe give the NIT teams a little more incentive for the NIT.

Interesting concept, but teams obviously can change so dramatically from one year to the next it's not going to happen imho. Also a team with a locked bid might turn out to be just a nightmare to coach.........I'm with JimmyJamesMD, keep away from Michigan. Gophers might end up in the fetal position if they play again.

Doesn't Matter Who They Play In Big 10 Tourney

Gophers must W all 4 games for NCAA bid.

Interesting thought, but never going to happen. And honestly, does PSU deserve a bid this year? No, obviously. Besides, if they don't give an automatic bid to the NCAA champion (nor should they, as we've seen 2 of the last 3 years) they certainly aren't going to give on to the NIT champ.

Northwestern is laying a egg at Indiana right now.

Indiana down Northwestern in OT. now we need a Penn State loss to Purdue.

What do we need a loss from them for?? With the Indy win, we are locked into playing PSU in the first round on Thursday now....

Yeah. what if there is a 3 way tied with Iowa, Indiana, PSU.

let beat PSU on Thursday.

PSU lost to Indy and Iowa in their matchups this year... PSU is locked into 11th.

Are the seeds locked now that Purdue has won? Can Wiscy move into the 3 seed with a win and an MSU loss?

If Sparty loses and Sconny wins, they're both 13-5 and they split their games. What is the next tie breaker?

Next tiebreaker is record against the top team(s), OSU and Purdue in that case. Wisconsin is 2-2, MSU is 1-2.

will Minnesota is not lock into the 6 seed.

They can finish as low as 7th and still play Indiana.
