Four games to go and this young team has all the pressure of getting back to a bowl off its shoulders. They can go out there and play care free the rest of the way.

Indiana has to win 3 of 5 to make a bowl.
PSU has lost its us against the world mojo from last year.
MSU could be 10-1 and have the division wrapped up already and be looking to OSU.
WI- Rivalry game we're due.

While I agree with a lot of this. I certainly hope the team feels that they haven't accomplished much, yet (Even though, they have. Especially, everything considered). I definitely want them to bring that same intensity to Indiana and the following games and make this a year to remember. I really think the coaching staff will be able to get this done.

The team's focus is on precision. Doing the job the best it can be done, every time, no matter how hard or inconvenient. Most people, most teams are not. They do something the best it can be done sometimes, do enough to get by most time and sometimes not. The dedication to precision is an expression of I care about winning. There is no letting up, there is no relaxing, there are only 4 opportunities to demonstrate what Golden Gopher Football is all about. When you focus on your precision, concentration, commitment, composure, and confidence, there is no pressure, there are no referees, let the opponent worry about pressure, sun angles, referees, crowds, uniforms, helmets, starting times, point spreads, how do we get to a bowl, all the petty little things.

+1! Well said, husker70!!

You get it. Well done.

There is a Bear Bryant quote that I like that I believe applies to this Minnesota team:

"Everybody has the will to win; not everybody has the will to prepare to win."

Without sounding hyperbolic, how much of our success "here on out" is attitude and belief? So we have proved that we can lay an egg (Iowa) and we have proved that we can punch a good team in the face and finish them off (Nebraska).

Anyone with any college playing experience? You always here about times when it just "clicks" for a team and they start believing in themselves. They experience a bit of success and that breeds more success. Is this overplayed in the media? Or is it true?

Confidence. Attitude.

Northwestern is in a free-fall right now. I am guessing they are experiencing the other side of the coin.

I'll see your quote and you raise you with one of my favorites that I think also ties in nicely to what husker70 was hinting at:

"Don't practice until you get it right. Practice until you can't get it wrong."

Confidence in your ability to perform allows you to reach your optimum talent level. Talent always chases confidence. Meaning you could have all 5 star recruits, and with a little self doubt they will play at say 70% of their ability. The team with 3.5 star recruits playing with confidence. Are comparable. Can a player lose confidence? Sure but that were coaching and teammates come in. Reminders, encouragementt in practice, reminders pregame, reminders pre plays. Reminders are good only before something happens. After it happens its whining and bitching. This staff has a handle on all of this

The pressure on the players and coaching staff is just starting. If they lose the next four games and end up playing in another third rate bowl game it will only remind the less than diehard Gopher fans in Minnesota of the Mason years and why they are not interested in going to the games.

Definitely agree Bigelow. After watching the way we are capable of playing when we bring our A-game, I certainly hope this is not a team that is satisfied with a bowl game and 2 conference wins. They are capable of more, and I am very pumped to see what happens the rest of the way.
