11-7. Hard to find anymore wins - I'd put min 9 wins and max of 12. I'm not down on the Gophers, but it is hard to win on the road in the Big 10 and the Gophers don't have the Kohl/Brez/Assembly x2 home court advantage where you can mark off all the home games as W's.

10-8 - Could see up to 12 and as little as 8, if Tubs wins 8 games with this squad, barring some major injuries, I think he should be on the chopping block. But with a gun to my head I would bet on 10 wins.

ETA: Although probably cheating - if they somehow find a way to beat MSU and Ill, I will bet they go on a run any will see 14 and 4...

Excited for Monday SS? :) Me too!

I look at like this, if the Gophers are as good as they should be by this point in the Tubby tenure they should go a minimum of 7-2 at home. It can't be that "it's tough to win on the road", but then we don't expect the Gophers to actually beat a team or two at home that has more talent than them. On the road, a 4-5 record would be the minimum expectation.

Home wins: Northwestern, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Penn State (6)

Now, can the Gophers go 2-1 at home against MSU, Indiana, and Michigan? I hope so. I'd be disappointed if there wasn't a home upset win this year and Indiana/Michigan are the only two games on the schedule that qualify. I'd love to see 8-1 at home as that would be huge for future interest in this team (both record wise and for the potential storm the court moment that we haven't had in what seems like a decade).

Road wins: Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue(4)

This gets us to 4-5 on the road with games at Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, MSU, and Ohio State all still on the schedule. I don't think it's unrealistic at all for this team to win at Wisconsin which would give them a winning road record in the Big Ten.

I think the record falls between 13-5 and 11-7, so my prediction will be 12-6.

12-6...tied for 2nd in Big Ten with Indiana, ahead of tOSU & IL but behind MI.

I will be amazed if this team goes 12-6. But I will be very happy with 11-7.

A win at Wisconsin would be good. Watching the Grinch melt down after a win there would be great.

Pretty close to my thoughts.

An accompanying question to this thread might be; what will the record be of the Big Ten Champ? I'm thinking the champ will have 4 loses, maybe 5. There are currently 6 teams in the top 20.

13-5.

OSU isnt as good as their ranking, neither is Ill imo. Gophs are better than both of them, as well as Wisky, Iowa, PSU, Nebraska, NW, Purdue. Michigan is pretty good, but relies on the outside shot, which means they can be beaten with tough perimeter D. MSU - I just cant get a good read on them.

Time for top notch results, tubby.

Good topic. Agree that the conference champ will be 14-4, I'd say maybe even 15-3. As strong as the Big Ten appears, I still think there will be a team that separates and emerges as the outright champ (my money's on Michigan). To that end, if the Gophers want to enter the B1G title contender stratosphere (14-4), it might have to shake down this way:

W
Michigan State
Northwestern
@ Illinois
@ Northwestern
@ Wisconsin
Nebraska
Iowa
Illinois
Wisconsin
@ Iowa
Indiana
Penn State
@ Nebraska
@ Purdue

L
Michigan
@ Indiana
@ Michigan State
@ Ohio State

A tall order, but ya' never know. Beat State.
